Killen

Anyone else think we should use some of this new money to offer him a 2 year deal?

Re: Killen

Isn't the issue that the club wanted to see how well his injury recovery went before offering him a longer deal. The last thing we need is another situation like Lee Wilkie

Re: Killen

Spoke to Chris at the sponsors "do" last night. He is pretty gutted at the deal he was offered by Mr Rod Mouser, He would be quite happy to stay at Ester Road on his current terms but he wanted a two year deal or a clause in a one year deal that if he played ex amount of games he would get a further year. Rod would not give him that deal. He is off down to Cardiff with his agent to talk turkey. When pressed about Hearts, he did confirm that somebody from HOMOFC had contacted his agent, however he was not interested.

POPEYE is on the way to a first team debut
Re: Killen

For fuk sake - 12 extra months at (£2000/wk x 52weeks plus bonuses & cost of employing him) = max £140000.

This equates to 3% of the £4.4million transfer fee.

Even if they were giving him more than £2k a week it would still be worth the risk - surely

Re: Killen

IMO it would be worth a gamble giving Chris Killen a 2 year deal. He's still our top goalscorer this season despite missing half the season. His skills would be a big asset to us next season.

Re: Killen

They're obviously not really that bothered whether he stays or goes.

A 1 year deal on same pay seems to suggest that if he signs they've not lost anything and if not, so what!

It seems incredulous to us Supporters but you don't know what's behind it! If it's related to injury and discipline then the idea of a further year if x number of games is reached seems sensible but obviously for reasons unapparent to us Hibs don't want to do that.

Where's the risk indeed! Where's the risk in offering him a 2 years + deal on improved terms? We're quite happy to dish out five year contracts to untested Moroccans when it suits us!

True. Though you do sometimes get the feeling that it is, our club is not run by idiots.

One thing for sure - Killen did enough this season to merit a 2yr deal.

Correct.... Yes we should sign Killen for 2 seasons... He does merit it.. Finished top scorer at club but out for nearly half a season.. Says it all.

Well he was brought in to score goals , did he do it ? Yes he did.
He was thought to be a bit injury prone when he came which appears to be true but if the only stumbling block is him wanting an extra year then i think it's crazy to let him go.
Or are there other factors involved

We can't afford to let another 25 goal plus a season striker walk away and as someone else pointed out only a small portion of the SB money would be needed to finance it
