Andy McNeill

It has become apparent for a long while that McNeill is the golden child as far as many on this board are concerned.

He is one of us so must be feeling as bad as all after today's result, but at the end of the day, once again, he has more than contributed to an awful result

The laddie simply does not have what is required to be a goalkeeper

Anyone who has any stats will no doubt see that howlers per game he is worse than Zibi

i am afraid his time is up and he should never start in goals for us again

Before anyone mentions his two saves prior to the second goal, any half decent amatuer goalie would have saved them

There is a great danger he could become Collins legacy as Zibi was Mowbrays.

I wish the boy all the best in whatever he does in the future, but please do not let it be our goalkeeper

Keep playing young, inexperienced keepers and mistakes are inevitable. I don't think it would be fair on him, he would just be hounded for any errors, like McNeil is, when really he's far too inexperienced to be the first choice keeper at a team like Hibs.

Re: Andy McNeill

There are underlying issues here. We have 5 adult goalies:
- Simon Brown
- Zbigniew Malkowski
- Alistair Brown
- Andrew McNeil
- David Grof
Of these, the first four have proved p*sh, and Grof has played 3 adult games in his life. Either the scouting staff, or the coaching staff, are responsible. You do not have 80% of your goalkeepers being p*sh as a natural error or average. No-brainer.

Re: Andy McNeill

At the time we were all calling for Zibi and Brown to be punted and McNeil to come in at least till the end of the season did some not say he was too young and would make mistakes? He has made some mistakes and the one today will take some coming back from but in a positive way it will let us see if he does indeed have the character to come back from it stronger. I would wager he will not be number one next season so will take this season on as part of his learning curve hopefully. The biggest sin was not that he has made some mistakes but more so the fact no funds were available to sign an experienced keeper in light of Brown and Zibi not being up to the job. Not one to usually berate our chairman but he is the one at fault for young kids not ready being put in like lambs to the slaughter.

Re: Andy McNeill

Some people defend him sayin things like "Oh but he made some great saves!!!" Aye but em he gave away another goal. It's like a striker scoring 100 goals in a season but also scoring 100 own goals....he aint gonna be winning any plaudits is he!

He is a good goalie but still young and making errors. Some goalies dont play well till mid twenties. Id keep him but use an experienced keeper for the next couple of seasons.Maybe farm him out to a lower league club, though we would then need back up. It must be really difficult to start in the SPL as your first club

Real radio were discussing Roughie never had a derby win in 6/7 years. Im sure the team were at fault but I wonder if he made some errors in these matches, and he was still a pretty good goalie.

To be honest Hibs were spoilt for goalies in the 80s/90s - Roughie, Goram and Leighton -what's the total amount of Scotland caps these guys won ?

There is an abundance of excuses for the guy here, I hope he goes on to have a successful career, nothing personal agaisnt him, but as far as I am concerned he has had enough chances with us, I have no confidence in him and his time is up
