Striker for the hibees????

I see that Malcolm Christie has been dumped by Boro, was once a very good prospect think he may of even had a England Cap he's still only 28, what you think???

Don't think we could afford his wages. We could give Danny Graham a trial though (says they released him at the bottom of the article) 21 years old, came through the academy.

Re: Striker for the hibees????

Couldn't see us offering a wage that would be attractive. We have to deal in a totally different type of market it would seem!

Re: Striker for the hibees????

I heard Sheringham say he isn't going to stay at West Ham but he definitely wants to continue playing. Now I know he's 40 but he could still do a job, I would like to see us go after him more than Christie (Both Impossible but hey)

Re: Striker for the hibees????

I remember hearing that in 1991 Hibs offered Keith Wright a very good deal (for the time) and paid around half a million for him. Surely it's time we made another such deal and bought a player in for around a million or so (taking into mind market inflations in prices) alongside higher wages, especially if it could have a positive impact i.e. taking us to europe.

Id take him in a second, but he'd be WAY out our wage structure, unless he's willing to play for £1,700 a week for first team football.

Re: Striker for the hibees????

I'd love us to sign John Sutton and/or Jason Scotland - really think that Farmer/Petrie should pump in more money, had we not won the CIS Cup this season you would have to say that even with the early promise its been a bit of a failure. JC really needs to sparkle things up this summer, and get rid of certain deadwood.

Re: Striker for the hibees????

I think in the football world we now operate in, Hibs paying a million pounds for A player is just not going to happen!!

I think it's another pointless thread.

Why do we get nonsence posts like this week in and week out? because a player is released and is on something like 15-20 grand do you really think they will come to Hibs for a mere £2000 pw.

Malcolm Christie will end up signing for someone ie, his old team Derby and get at least £10,000 a week.

Re: Striker for the hibees????

He is a premiership player, injury prone (think he's played about 10 games in 2 years) and will be on atleast £10,000 a week so no I don't think he is a striker for the Hibees.

I wouldn't think of the signings we make in the Summer we're likely to have heard of many of them!

Mind you, there might not be that many coming anyway!

Re: Striker for the hibees????

Yeh even at 40 Im sure Sheringham will get better offers than he to come to ER. But I think he could do a job, and wages would obviously be a stumbling block but we could offer him a coaching role as well

Its all hypothetical as its never going to happen but I could see that maybe appealing to him.

I'd rather him even at 40 than Christie who's injury prone and a flash in the pan (not as good as killen IMO)
