I agree TH. Jones is good at what he can do, generally. This is probably saying the unsayable but if Hibs want to move up a level we need someone better than him at the back.

If Boozy can do every week what he did against the Hun as libero then the Jonesy boy may even be surplus to requirements.

I really like jones but that was horrendous today. He has made a lot of errors this season that the fans havn't picked up on and due to his efforts at the other end of the park. I agree if it was martis the fans would have turned on him . I still love Jones for that bullet in the final and his volley against the scum! Fuck the Hearts!

Jones can't read a book never mind the flight of a ball, he has been pish for a while. Don't get rid of him he would be good back up if we were in dire straits

I think you're all being a bit harsh on Rob Jones. Yes he's made mistakes but,in the main, he's been a good signing and a much better captain than the previous incumbent

i think he has been dodgy due to playing two positions because hogg couldnt win a ball in the air if his life depended on it , also dont you think that jones was a better player when he was just getting the ball up the park not making about a hundred passes at the back before we get over the halfway line

Yep , it's a good point you make. I've said for years that I much prefer a centre half who does the simple things well (eg. clearing his lines) . It's a bonus if he has a goal threat at the other end as well tho'

I think they are a better combo, havent really done much wrong when they are together.

I do quite like Jones but he only heads in the direction he's facing whether we have a man there or not although he seems to have stopped chasing second balls and dragging himself out of position. One other thing, which isnt a criticism of jones but of the manager [shock], we need to stop punting corners to Jones all the time, it doesnt work very often these days so change it.

I wouldnt want to start an anti jones campaign Al but it isnt coincidence is it. Why doesnt he just not go up for corners sometimes and that would force hibs to vary things. Quite apart form that he dives into tackles too much for my liking and barges players over too often...mibbe thats just his size making him look a bit clumsier. Anyway, I prefer Hogg and Martis..dont think they have done much wrong together on the park have they? And Hogg looks like he was born to be captain, hes also getting better and better every week imo.

Al, I've not seen the game stats but we seemed to have absolutely loads of corners yesterday and we were back to the same old same old. The only variation was the short one involving Shiels which worked nicely.

I don't understand why we can't use Jones more sparingly from set pieces, surely he'd make a better decoy at times.

I like Jones, although he wasnt at the races today so to speak! think he is coming in for a tad unfair criticism but thats opinions and everyone entitled to theirs i suppose. Mayby today was the effects of a long hard season for him considering the step up think he has been excellent for us this season IMO obviously

Our corners are pathetic. Surely that cant be what they work on in training. And I agree with the original post if that had been Martis then this thread would have been 3 pages long saying how shite he is. Personally I quite like Martis and the last couple of times he's played you can clearly see how much he is lacking confidence.

Jones is as prone to making mistakes as Hogg and Martis. Personally I'd have gone with Martis and Hogg.

The flack against Jones is laugable.

The guy has been superb this season, to say he's been pish recentley is true, but so have the whole first eleven. Not just Jones.

I didn't hear all this about Jones when he scored the goal that knocked the yams out, or his goal in the cup final.
