Do You Remember......
Saturday 29th April 1995? A dirty dozen years ago today? Hibs, still chasing the last place in Europe (which, ultimately, Motherwell would get), travelled to Tannadice to take on Ivan Golac's relegation threatened Dundee United. We were in that strange wee corner stand and there was a decent enough Hibs support there that day. We'd already beaten the Arabs 5-0 and 4-0 at Easter Road and drawn no score on ourt earlier visit to Tanna-Dee-Chee. The first half was memorable only for a bout of handbags between Geebsie and later-to-be-both-a-hun-and-a-scumbo Gordan Petric. They were both red carded. The longer the game went on the more Hibs came into it and in injury time Davie Farrell rocketed a shot that their keeper could only parry and Pat McGinlay nodded it home to our jubiliation. However, the best bit was about five mniutes earlier when news came through that Billy Dodds had put the sheep 2-1 up at Swinie! We were all chanting 'Aberdeen', much to the annoyance of our hosts who were involved in a dog-fight at the foot of the table with the SSBs. Apparently, the Northern Lights repaid our compliment as Jambos at work the following week told me that when news came through of our late winner at Tannadice they started singing 'Hi-Bees'! Much to the annoyance of the scumbos who weren't safe either.
Shame the phuckers stayed up.
