New East Stand-coming soon

Interview with bbc yesterday pre-viewing todays game interviewer asks collins about transfers

collins says; we can only afford free agents, bosmans, out of contract etc
interviewer; why? are you not going to get any money from scott browns sale
collins; well thats for the training academy and possibly a new stand depending on how much

(along those lines)

looks like the club want this done and dusted before planning runs out

tbh no real surprise here.

They needed to do this while we have planning. Hopefully every other penny we make or at least the next decade will go to the team - which is encouraging. We will have 1st class training facilities and a big enough stand to accomodate the fans demand on the 'big games'.

But - by the looks of the team today - we have more great players coming through. maybe a couple of hundred k's for some experience will help.

OK hibs - i accept that response - but no more excuses after this.

Re: New East Stand-coming soon

to be honest...

if we get an inflated fee for any player that can cover -even partially- the construction of the East Stand then I would be tempted...

with the current crop of players a few good additions to the squad would make a good side...

if we got a big fee for 1 player (obviously not looking at Brown ) and put that to ground / debt use... then anybody else choosing to leave obviously brings in a fee to give Collins some more money and flexibility in the budget

Re: New East Stand-coming soon

I do think fans have to be realistic...

some folk think that after a good season and a Cup win we are awash with cash...

Hibs are healthy... but there are still things to sort out

if we can come through this period with the three quarters of the current squad , but with debts and mortgages paid... we would be laughing as we would have the financial freedom to add quality to the playing staff :YAYYY:

If selling David Murphy OR Steven Whittaker, allowed us to rebuild the East Stand NOW - then I'd accept it.

The West was really good today for atmosphere/singing/shouting etc. I reckon a new East like the west would be fine for atmosphere.

I am sure Hibs can build a stand quite quickly? How long would the West copy stand take anyone?

Re: New East Stand-coming soon

You would be talking 1 season out of use (i.e. you'd have to move season tickets for 1 season, even if it only took 9 months to build the stand). Which is pretty reasonable.

In terms of where the East Stand fans would go - even if we presume that the entire West and FF are already full, and even if we presume all 2,000-2,500 East Stand ST holders want to move to the South, that still leaves around 1,500 for the away fans.

Re: New East Stand-coming soon

I would have thought it very unlikely that any party would put their support behind 'safe standing', basically because there is no evidence from British football that there can be 'safe standing'. Bar the unused sections at Stirling and Peterhead, is there a modern piece of terracing in Scotland? And I can't think of any in the top levels of England. Remember Germany has no connections to Hillsbrough or Heysel, these loom larger here in the UK. I would be surprised if the SPL or SFA would sanction it either.

The West and FF had loads of empty seats in it today.................................
If and when we build a new east stand i pray it's not a copy of the west.

In control freak Britain? I dont think so. The polis want fans sat doon cos its easier to police. But it'd be better if there was an official standing area. I mean, we stand on the seats for the whole game anyway in the Easty. Nobody gets injured. So whats the problem?

JUST SAY NO TO A NEW EAST STAND!

Hmmm, not sure I'd say no - or yes for that matter - if only they could get rid of the frigging pillars in the east then I'd be happy with something similar to keep the atmosphere of the east.

Re: New East Stand-coming soon

I think the stadium would be the best in the country outside the OF if we got a new West. Maybe not a copy of the West Stand. A one tier with a higher angle than the current East Stand would be better, and NO PILLERs

Re: New East Stand-coming soon

Is the new East Stand not to be a single tier, imo it would be just like updating the East, just a spring clean, and then get aw the young bams back init again, and continue making the noise/atmosphere they do most weeks. Cant see a spring clean stopping anything, continue standing on the seats and all that kinda stuff, least these friggen pillars would be dunawaywith.

Might even get a half decent pie stand!

okay, am taking it too far now!

Re: New East Stand-coming soon

The planning permission is for an exact copy of the West Stand, except the spaces for the dressing rooms, club offices etc. will be voids instead (which could be developed later). In addition, there will be no business/press seats as there are enough in the West and Famous Five stands already. The turnstiles would be in the base of the stand, accessed from North and South ends of the stadium perimeter. The new stand will boost capacity to roughly 21,000 seats (i.e. an increase of 3/4).

although the east is good for atmosphere and banter, the actual stand is a dump, the sooner it gets redeveloped the better, even if it is a copy of the west,

take note of west lower yesterday, it was brilliant :YAYYY:

I think they should make a new east stand - but keep it like it is now jsut a bit bigger, more modern etc. That would suit the atmosphere fine

Re: New East Stand-coming soon

I agree with most of whats been said; keep it a single teir, no more pillars.

My only concern is that they would try and stop people standing, which is what makes the terracing what it is.

im pretty sure the new west only took 5 months to rattle up, end of jan 2001-jun/july 2001. no reason new east should take any longer if its an exact copy
