Should we enter the Inter- Toto Cup?

Should we enter (If it's not too late) the Inter-Toto?

Pros
Competitive games pre-season.
Possible spot in Uefa Cup.
Euro Trips for fans.
ST incentive - all Inter-Toto games included

Cons
Early start to season - not giving JC time to add to squad and get new squad together/ready
Adds to an already long season
Costs to club & Fans to travel

Re: Should we enter the Inter- Toto Cup?

It makes the season far too long, and there's the fatigue factor for the players come April.
Nope, it smacks of desperation.
Better having a good run in the domestic tournaments without any distractions such as the inter titty. I'm sure with JC's new broom sweeping through ER, next season will be very interesting.

Re: Should we enter the Inter- Toto Cup?

I think it wouldve been a good idea; another chance to get into the UEFA cup.

It doesn't matter anyway now, we've missed the entry date.

Re: Should we enter the Inter- Toto Cup?

For a selfish point of view I would say yes.

There's always a chance you can visit a country, city or town that otherwise you just would just never go to.

Aint I right Delting.

Re: Should we enter the Inter- Toto Cup?

I think its ridiculous not applying. European football is what we are aming for all season, so why not have an insurance policy on it. Its worth it for the travel alone.

Re: Should we enter the Inter- Toto Cup?

No. Want the players to get a decent rest.

So next season if we get a team together we can fight for UEFA and get two good cup runs.

Re: Should we enter the Inter- Toto Cup?

Closing date is already past. Need to arrange some decent pre season matches - a mini tour of North West England would do for me. Has there been any news on the proposed friendly v Barcelona. Have heard rumours of a game in Morocco, any others been mentioned yet?

Re: Should we enter the Inter- Toto Cup?

It is a complete scandal that Rod Petrie & Co did not cough up the £500 it costs to apply, even if we had been forced to pay the £5,000 withdrawal fee had we got to the Cup final and therefore to the UEFA Cup. The majority - 6 out of 11 - clubs who won the InterToto last season (including Odense) reached the UEFA Cup group stage i.e. had a further EIGHT matches and revenue, and Newcastle went on to make the last 16. Apparently clubs making the group stage earned seven-figure sums. Also - when every other country in Europe, bar Norway, enters a team - do you not get the feeling that it must mean something? Our season ends on Saturday 19 May and the first leg of the 2nd round of the InterToto Cup is on Sunday 8 July if our players cannot recover sufficiently in 7 weeks then they should not be at the club. The InterToto Cup is a very valid tournament - or alternatively, a seperate qualifying round of the UEFA Cup - and we should be in it.
