Gypsy curses

Anyone ever heard the story that birmingham city's ground was cursed by gypsys when it was built? Hence a general lack of success, well is it possible that something similar has happened to the hibees?

Any idea how to lift curses/can we get a priest to bless the team. Im quite erious about this, it seems like the only solution.

Re: Gypsy curses

There is another solution. RP invests some money in the team. JC gets rid of those he doesn't want and the young guys coming through get fitter and quicker. As a team we are too far away but we do not have a squad that is good enough and sometimes the step up is just too big. For example Chisolm coming on for Boozy, who didn't have much of a game by his own standards, but for Chisolm the learning curve is too steep to come on in game of that importance.

Tend to agree with that Vini, would have changed Boozy for Shiels then if needed brought McCann on and let Whitts slot into RM similar to the LC Semi.

IMO I don't think it was that bad a performance it was just a lack of cutting edge in the final 3rd that let us down.

Re: Gypsy curses

I remember the story of Derby County's Baseball Ground.

"Derby County Football Club had occasionally used the stadium for their home matches and, with their partner baseball club in decline, made it their permanent home in [Only Registered Users Can See Links. A party of gypsies were forced to move and legend has it that before leaving they put a curse on the ground preventing Derby County winning the F. A. Cup. The ground became the property of the club in 1924 when it was purchased from Ley for £10,000."

Didn't the priests visiting Easter road used to bless the ball?

Just had a browse for gypsy cures, apparently you can pay 'wise women' to lift them.

Bounce whip around?

Aye, until Hugh Shaw decided it was'nt financially viable for Hibs to give away a large portion of their Main Stand as "freebies", and told them they'd had to pay for the privilage of "blessing" Hibs with their support.

Barry Fry was told the solution to lift the curse. It was to piss on the 4 corners of the pitch,he did it........it didnt work.

Mibbes JC could try it but knowing Hibs and corners he would try and land his foaming streak on big Jonesys napper

Re: Gypsy curses

For what it's worth I believe the story goes that the Nuns used to wash the strips for hibs. The last time they did it was...wait for it....pre cup final 1902 then they were washed elsewhere.
They say the lick won't change until they do it again....

Although geting rid of the useless gits would also help imo

Exactly. Everybody keeps lambasting the performance, when all along all we just needed a big striker to shove it in the net. It was kind of like the early season, when we were creating chances, but no-one was taking them
