Admittedly I wasn't at the game (I was working, and I'm well aware this makes me the world's poorest excuse for a Hibs fan, but frankly that's not the point) but from what I saw on the highlights when I got in tonight, it looked like we were the better team, had the best chances, had 2 cleared off the line, and had a shout for a penalty, of the sort which you can bet your arse the huns or Celtic would have got, turned down. Didn't look like a shocking performance from what I saw...?

The title of this thread is exactly all I've been thinking about since the end of the game.

Three games against a side bottom of the league and not a single goal - did we really deserve to be in the final.

In short, we're just not good enough. We were the better team IMO but you dont get three points or into a final for being the better team. Its takes goals.
It doesnt matter how many chances we missed we have to be good enough and accurate enough to get the ball in the back of the net.

If we had a fiver for every disappointment Hibs have bestowed on us even in the last two or three years, we could have clubbed together and bought a new Training Acadamy, Rooney, Ronaldinho, Gerrard and the fecking rest.

At a conservative estimate of £75M for that lot, over 3 years at £5 per disappointment, makes it 5 million disappointments a season!!

Well said Leigh. You've encapsulated the root cause of our disappointment.

But right now, more than any time in the last 24 years that I've spent (often hundreds of miles from Leith) as a Hiberoin addict (I don't inject, I just smoke and enjoy hallucinogenic dreams) I'd far rather be a Hibbie than a Jambo. Obviously I'd always rather be a Hibbie than a Jambo, but there have been times when their future has looked bright whilst ours has simultaneously looked empty. This is not such a time.

JC will get it right, and what he has achieved in delivering a trophy success in the entertaining goal drenched manner he did on March 18th will live long in all our Hibbie memories.

This season is dead. And ultimately we weren't good enough to beat a team who, basically, play the type of football made famous by Harry Bassett's Wimbledon and Sheffield United teams of the 80s and 90s.

But next season we'll come alive again. JC is laying the bricks of our future success while Gorgielon burns.

Not saying that this was the answer but last night we had no fire power yet we have a striker on pre contract. So we saved £100k (after banking £2m) but how much have we lost by not playing in a televised SC final and being UEFA. I'll always support lets not be stupid with money but this has bit us on the @rse big time. Hopefully harsh lession learned.

ST on order for next year tho! Always a Hibby.

This statement could have been written about almost every season for the last 6/7 years just change the managers name where appropriate.
