Hibees Bounce Young Player Of The Year 2007

The Hibs team is packed with quality young players. Each season the conveyer belt of talent from the Hibs Youth Academy turns out more gems and this season is no different. No fewer than 5 Young players from the Hibs Youth set-up have made their first team debuts this season, and a couple of them, Andy McNeil and Lewis Stevenson, are holding their own against their more experienced team-mates, and Steven Fletcher has been a regular member of the first team for a couple of seasons now. In this category players must be under 21 when the season starts.

Which Young player has made the biggest impression on you this season?

Fletch for me by a mile.

But then again, I had to overcome my kneejerk reaction for the goalie. More because of the the concern I have for previous incumbents rather than the the youngsters performance.

I went for Stevenson. Don't think Fletch has had a great season IMO, although he hasn't had a bad one.

Over the entire season its Fletcher, just that he did it in the first 2/3 of the season, while Stevenson has done it in the final 1/3. As for suggesting Gray, Chisholm etc...

for his two goals in the league cup final,it has to be fletcher...if either of the old firm had a 19 year old centre forward that had scored the goals he has they'd probably be on the fringes of the scotland team and in the running for the young player of the year..

Remember that the UEFA U-19 Championships officially occurred during this 2006-2007 season as well, in which Fletcher was immense and much missed in the final.

I voted for Andy McNeil.

There is no more difficult or highly pressurised a position for a young player to come into in professional football than goalkeeper. It required a high degree of discipline and concentration. You also have to be totally focussed and prepare well. McNeil was thrown into the first team this season after some terrible errors by his more experienced goalkeeping teammates, and has handled the situation superbly well. Apart from a couple of errors against ICT and Hearts he has been excellent. He also has a cup winners medal for his efforts. I still have some reservations about him, and I think we may need a more experienced keeper for next season as back-up, but Andy McNeill deserves a lot of praise for what he has achieved this season.

Fletch was a regular in the first team squad expected to cement his place at the start of the season whereas stevenson has burst on the scene from no-where so apologies Fletch but it's the CIS Cup final MOTM for me..

Tough one as others suggest, Fletch as played well and too many moaning Hibby's forget his youth and inexperience. However, Lewis looks a real find and I see him as a long term replacement for the excellent David Murphy, so its Lewis for me.

Stevenson for me too.I think Fletcher has great skill, but he's had an average season imo, regardless of his age.

I went for McNeill as well.

Fletcher although youthful is now fairly experienced and hasn't performed fantastically for some time now. Stevenson has looked like a player since he first pulled on the Jersey on the Irish tour and nearly got my vote, but I think McNeill has taken a grip of the GK position that was causing us so many problems.

I think what convinced me was the fact that I was so worried that McNeill would have to leave the field after his knock last Sunday and then the dread that filled me as the Honey Monster bounced up and down on the touchline waiting to come on!

I've been impressed by all the young lads who have came through and still a big fan of Fletcher, he seems to have been around for ages despite his youth but I'm going for Lewis Stevenson

McNeil is a very close second for me

Stevenson for me - a real talent for the future. If I had seen more of McCann in action though, I might have voted for him as I think he too will be a big name soon.

Really impressed by Stevenson and McCann this season. Fletch has suffered from too many games.

I voted for McNeil though. He is under immense pressure because of the idiots who previously had his jersey. He has handled that pressure very well IMHO.
