Tuesdays Result

I have a feeling tuesdays result may influence the decision on whether or not to build a new east stand sooner rather than later.

If we win on tuesday;

European Football-meaning increased revenue at ER for however long we stay in uefa cup
Increaed revenue from reaching 2nd cup final
Feelgood factor increases again, meaning more people want ST's

Add on top of that;

sale of KT £2 million
Sale of SB £5 million
planning permission runs out next year
possible sale of whitty and murphy
manager being told there are no funds available for transfers

makes you think??

im not saying that a new east stand is our main priority, its a decision the board has to take. i believe we should increase the wage bill to attract better players and ensure we have at least a top 4 finish next season

A new East Stand should be a priority, behind only the Training Complex in our list of priorities. Our ground is going to be too small if the club maintains its current form of the past few years (no seats left in FF or West stands already), couple this with planning permission running out and very high chance would not get it again because of new flats, and the fact the current East Stand is a heap of sh*t, get it built!!

There is no doubt that the Training complex at East Mains and a new east Stand are high in the thoughts of the Hibs board at the moment, and rightly so. Both are needed IMO. However, we simply have to start to increase the wage levels for players otherwise we are going to go backwards. We have been fortunate over the last four years or so that we have managed to bring through so many top class youngsters, but there is absolutely no guarantee that the next batch will be able to equal what Riordan O'Connor, Brown, Thomson, etc have done.

Whilst it is great to see Collins bringing in talented young lads from abroad and this country, we really do have to start recruiting one or two more experienced players to get the balance right in the team. We have the makings of another excellent side with all the young players we have at the moment, but players move on every year and we more or less have to re-build every close-season. This summer is absolutely vital. I really hope John Collins can get the players he wants because he has a very hard job ahead of him next season if he doesn't get them.

With regard to the original post, Tuesday is mega. We simply have to win this game. I think we will.

The Catch22 is that if you pump money into a new stand you cant pump it into the team.

Form drops, results drop, attendance drops .. left with a new stand we cant fill.

I think it would need to take a few seasons as successful as this one and something close to a season ticket sell-out before the board would even consider doing anything with the East Stand.

Either way, Tuesdays result will have no bearing on any decision about the East Stand ..
