ha ha should take every single penny the club has and get a keeper with it... its been years and years since we been able to trust the man at the back of the park.

besides even tho broon will be away at a amazin price for us he'll just go off to the old firm or somin play absoultly gash and we'll have a new young star come up through the ranks and it will all satart all over again.....
however this resource might sart to dry up in a few years with john park away.

I've a wee feeling that this money may be going to a new east stand before the planning application runs out next year, as it'll be harder to get plannin permission again with the new flats being built behind it

Lets hope not, there is no need to make easter road bigger. Invest in the team bring more success which will bring more fans and then look at a new stand. We'll have to seriously improve the quality of the team in the summer and money has to be there to do so, whether its higher wages or transfer fees money has to be given to JC.

Yes there is, the ground is now sold out on a fairly regular basis.

Re: "I won't be buying anybody as there is no funds.." JC

The average attendance for ER this year is sittin at 14660 at the moment, it finished at 13800 last year, and 12400 the year below.
considering 2 of our last 3 home games of the season are against the old firm, that attendance figure is likely to rise to 15000ish.

This year seats that have went on sale to the general public have been snapped up in no time, due to their being very little.

Lets consider

Rising attendances past few years
Rising season ticket sales past few years
Cup success this year, and extra revenue it brings
Sale of KT, Broonaldo and others in the summer brings in more money
The clubs debt getting smaller and smaller
JC saying he will have no money to buy players
Planning permission will run out next year for a new east stand, and be very hard to obtain again due to proximity of neighbouring flats

Take all this into consideration, and the idea of a new east stand sounds very likely.

Im not saying it is our priority at the moment, but it looks like it may well happen.....

Can't remember exactly, but think the west stand cost £6m

Easter Road has been sold out for 5 league games this year. Surely that doesnt warrant a new stand being built.

The home stands are pretty much sold out.

FF and West are all season tickets

East some ST's and remaining tickets pretty much sell on the day.

Thats why a CAT B season ticket for the south was introduced, in order to make more money from the extra demand for home fans.

Obv our ground won't be sold out if teams like ICT motherwell etc get an allocation of roughly 2000 and bring 200

"Bulldozers have started knocking down the West Stand at Hibernian's Easter Road Stadium.
Demolition work by Barr Construction began in earnest at the Scottish Premier League ground on Monday.

A new 6,500-seat, two-tier stand is expected to be completed by July.

The work will increase the capacity from 15,250 to 17,250. "

That was in january 2001

But whats the point in building a stand costing however many million for maybe 7 games in a season when there are still plenty seats available in the South Stand. I dont believe there are that many more fans that would come to Easter Road regularly to warrant building a new stand. The atmosphere is pretty poor just now never mind having 5000 extra empty seats for most weeks.

I'm not saying the time is now, but in the very near future it will be needed-if things keep progressing the way they are-and with the very real possibility planning won't be granted after the current planning permission runs out, the club may be looking to do this now.

The ticket office don't really help, there have been a number of games this year that they have posted a notice up for saying, get there early for walk up tickets or you won't get one.

How many fans will see that and decide not to go?

For big games, aberdeen, hearts, celtic rangers we could easily sell more tickets.

With a new stand we'd have an extra 3500 tickets to sell, making roughly £75k per big game.

Using this season as an example, we will have had 2 home games vs hearts(not incl cis) 3 vs rangers 2 vs celtic

making £525,000 per season extra [at least, this is not incl cup games we get against big teams, and the possibility of uefa cup football]

Take into account money was earmarked for east mains at the time of Garry O'connors sale, this year we will have had the sale of KT, Scott brown, with another 2 a distinct possibilty. Assuming the cost will be around the £7 mil mark, the sales of these two players just about covers it. Add in extra revenue of at least £0.5 million a year as a result and it seems that a new east stand could be imminent...

The reason for getting a new stand built now would be primarily because the planning consent runs out in the next 12-18 months i think. After this point a new consent would be feckin hard to get due to all the flats built behind the east. The number of objectors would be fairly high and could make it hard to push on with this. Surely better to build it then the club works it's arse off marketing to get it filled up.

I agree mate. It may not be our main priority just now, but we cannot afford to let planning permission lapse

Hibs will never come out and say they have money to spend for teams to slap top dollar asking prices on their players.
