Relatively close and different from playing the usual mobs, add into the fact that the Stadium of Light pitch is in decent nick it's obviously a good choice for both clubs

Re: Hibs v Sunderland
Sunderland Res 3, Hibernian Res 0Apr 13 2007
By Neville Pilkington, The Journal Graham Kavanagh made a welcome return after more than three months on the sidelines to play in the first 45 minutes of this convincing win at the Academy yesterday. The Republic of Ireland international midfielder, who hasn't played for the first team since the 1-0 defeat at Crystal Palace on December 22 due to a knee injury, was drafted into action sooner than anticipated in yesterday's game after Spaniard Arnau complained of an injury in the pre-match warm-up. The former Middlesbrough schemer gave a fluent, hard-working display and had only intended to play for 30 minutes, but felt good enough to continue. SPL side Hibs' second string played well, with Sunderland keeper Trevor Carson having to make a series of good blocks but eventually it was three Sunderland youngsters - Jake Richardson, Billy Dennehy and Dave Dowson - whose contribution finally sealed the victory. The hosts took the lead on 19 minutes with a move down the right involving Robbie Weir, Dowson and Kavanagh and it was the midfielder who side-footed a slide-rule pass into the area for Tommy Miller to slot home. Hibs hit back with South Shields-born striker Damon Gray crashing a header against the bar and Carson had to make further good saves to keep Sunderland ahead. Then, just after the hour mark, came the decisive breakthrough with Sunderland's second goal. Midfielder Jake Richardson played a lovely ball inside the full-back for Irish winger Billy Dennehy, whose cross was perfect for Dowson to score with a firm near-post header. Three minutes later, the same three players combined again to construct the third goal - Richardson once more feeding Dennehy, who crossed for Dowson to come in at the back post, this time to firmly side-foot past the keeper. Sunderland reserves (4-4-2): Carson (Backhouse 70); Wright, Cunningham, Varga (Donoghue 67), Clarke (Liddle 67), Weir, Kavanagh (Colback 46), Richardson, Dennehy, Dowson, T Miller.

Re: Hibs v Sunderland
I work with a Sunderland supporter who tells me that there reserve team does not play in a league so have to arrange their own games - Hibs are obviously quite close.
