Heard this this morning, wasn't sure if it was true.

Along the lines of Celtic agreeing to rip up the pre contract, as he really wanted to stay at Hibs. I also heard that the Hibs contract offered was the same as Celtic had promised the lad.

how do pre-contacts actually work ??

example:

a player has signed a pre-contract with another club but ACTUALLY wants to stay at the club he's leaving.

but what IF the club he's leaving has offered him a better deal than the club he's going to.

can the player knock back the club he's going to or would that be impossible ??

so there may have been some truth in the report i heard after all

He's the Scotland Under-19 captain, and one of the brightest prospects at Easter Road.

It was reported back near the New Year that Celtic had offered him a pre-contract, after Hibs had dragged their heals, around the time that John Park had defected to run their Yoof set-up.

At Celtic, He'll be on a wage 5-6 times what he was getting from Hibs.

When Celtic informed Hibs of their interest in the player, a club official replied, "Darren who?"

Celtic were'nt the only club in for him though, another club offered twice as much money as Celtic offered him but he did'nt want to end up on loan to some East European mob.

Hibs never even spoke to him regarding a new contract until after Celtic had made their offer, by that time he had given them his word he would sign.

As long as the club he is going to is willing to forget about the pre contract then it can be terminated. If the club he has signed the pre contract for want him to honour the agreement, then he would have to do so.

I hope this is true, as if the truth is right that he is a very exciting prospect im glad he has opted to stay at Hibs, i'll believe it when its official though.
