I don't think his two appearances were great tbh but I have a mate who's watched him in the reserves and he reckons he's the pick of the bunch !!

Thought he struggled with the pace in both matches but he is still young.

Looks sharp on the ball and has a good eye for a pass. He can only get stronger and better IMO, good signing.

Re: Chisholm nets new deal

The 'golden generation' of Riordan, Brown, Murray,Thompson and to a lesser extent O'Connor and Whittaker all oozed class from the minute they broke through to the first team but this next generation has far more in the way of question marks against them.

Lynch,Chisholm,McCann and Campbell all might make a career in football but its hard to see them at the moment commanding seven figure transfer fees and I haven't seen anything particularly 'special' from any of them yet but that's irrelevant as it's the next 2/3 crucial years that will make or break them as players.

The same could be said of Kenny Miller who was a complete heidless chicken prior to his Stenhousemuir loan move but grew a few inches, filled out a little and 9 months later was sold to 'Scotlands Shame' for £1.7m.

He isn't a Brown, Riordan or Thompson but he isn't a Kevin Nichol or Hakin Sar either

He is just a very neat tidy player with a nice eye for a pass who will get better with age and confidence.

Given Stevenson's age I think he is arguably playing better than Brown was at 19. Granted that time was under Williamson so I wont hold that against Scott.

What might hold Stevenson back though is mental strength and toughness which Brown was just born with from the moment he decked Bobo Balde (getting Balde sent off for retaliation) to last week when he matched Gattuso and Pirilo.

Stevenson doesn't need to worry about that just yet though as he has done a tremendous job so far in establishing himself and regularly getting a game on merit and ability.

I,m sorry mate but I think Stevenson and McCann look the real deal especially when you consider the highly charged atmospheres that they have done well in --- EG Tynecastle semi final when things looked bleak and for me they changed the whole shape of the game, a very tricky and difficult Scottish cup match at Pittodrie when they were both outstanding, and remember Lewis Stevenson was the (deserved) mom in the C.I.S. cup final!!!!

I'm not disageeing with you as I think they are good young players but I don't see them as yet or in the future commanding £2 million pound transfer fees as was the case of Thompson, £3 million potential in the case of Brown and £1 million in the case of the Cardiff aborted move for Riordan.

At similar ages I thought Riordan and Brown were the best young players Hibs had produced in 25 years,Thompson I thought was good but a bit overrated and £2m was a Brucie Bonus.

and while the current crop are good they are not quite in the same mould but they are still decent players nonetheless.

Re: Chisholm nets new deal

You've got to remember that the current new guys are breaking into a much better Hibs team than Riorden, O'Connor, Brown etc had to.... I think to say the likes of Stephenson and Chisholm aren't as good is premature to say the least.

I think Stephenson in particular has shown a great deal of maturity and poise in his performances so far that suggests he could be destined for great things.

Maybe 'cos the 3 I mentioned above were goal scorers, they stood out more?

Maybe this was when Riordan decided to hold out for a move to one of the Bigot Brothers. Or did everybody know this already
