Keep Looking At The Bigger Picture My Fellow Hibernians!!

Ok our league form and results have been a little disappointing since our CIS League Cup victory.

However, remember it was a 5-1 going on 8-1 cup final victory...

We are only TWO games away from achieving something truly historic...

IMO the coming game on Sunday is HUGE and arguably a bigger game than the CIS final itself. A result on Sunday will more or less guarantee a European place next season and a 50:50 crack at winning the silverware we all desparately want.

It's up to us the fans to roar the boys on this sunday and a good 20,000 of us can and shall do so next Sunday.

The result yesterday was perhaps a wee reminder to us all that we have a game to win on Sunday but like the CIS final if we the fans turn up in voice and the players turn up and play then we win.

Lets be positive and get up for what IMO is going to be the best ever season for a Hibby.

Dont like getting beat but yestardays result could be a blessing in disguise. If we had won our expectations would have been greater, we would expect to roll all over them next sunday and everybody knows what happens when hibs are expected to win. Take the game against the scum of lithuania for example.

Indeed Kenny. Saturday might help in a way as it makes it clear that we are capable to losing to Dunfermline as we did to a struggling Dundee United a couple of seasons ago. Collins has to get the squad in the right frame of mind for this game and go out and win it in some style.

If we can go on and win the cup it would be quite an achievement, particularly when you take into account the players we have sold and the fact that we are having to play a number of 19 year olds. This is a significant point, Dunfermline are stuffed full of seasoned pro's. We have to achieve success with a mix of experience and a large dose of younger guys. We are in that sense in the same situation when Bobby was trying to win the league cup against Livingstone.

I agree with you smurf, but the last three results have left me feeling a bit dissapointed, i know i should know what to expect by now but its been hard not too. Beating dunfemline and gettin to the final (and into europe) would be great, winning the SC would be truly magnificent.

Re: Keep Looking At The Bigger Picture My Fellow Hibernians!!

There was always a very good chance that Hibs form would suffer after we won the CIS Cup in such style. We were faced with some tricky fixtures, and the players knew that the Cup semi was on the horizon. The Hearts game came at a bad time, and they had something to prove. We then played two teams fighting for their lives on their own grounds, always a dangerous scenario.

The big worry for me at the moment is the fact that the goals have dried up. We are not creating any chances, and we are not working the opposition goalkeeper nearly enough. I think there are a few players who feel that the season is done now that we have won the cup. Collins has to sort out this attitude this week.

We face a huge game on Sunday, but I am very confident of a Hibs victory. I just cannot see Dunfermline (the worst team in the SPL by some distance), beating Hibs twice in successive weeks. We are a far better team than the Pars, and I expect Hibs class to come through in the game that really matters on Sunday.

Sorry man but i disagree completely.Tricky fixtures? This is the SPL all away games are tricky fixtures for Hibs.If it wasnt for the Scotland game breaking the momentum then i cannot see a better game than the derby after a cup win,i mean everyone was banging on how we would hump them(myself included)yams were hiding, some were actually agreeing we were gonna do them.We know what happened.
The next 2 games are against the bottom 2,1 point out of 6,sorry but thats not good enough. They may have been fighting for their SPL lives but my goodness i know i would rather be playing St.Mirren and Dunfermline rather than say Aberdeen and ICT.No way you can dress it up,1 point from the bottom 2 is just mince.

I still expect us to get to the final though

Re: Keep Looking At The Bigger Picture My Fellow Hibernians!!

If Hibs won by 4 or 5 goals on Sunday no one would be surprised. Let's be honest it is the semi-final of our national cup competition so no player should need much motivation to win this match. I'm praying that recent form is just a wee "blip" and all will work out fine on Sunday. Player for player we should have no fears about playing the Pars ----so why are we wooried???
Because it's Hibs and it's been like this for years. We never make things or do things the easy way. We can play our part by supporting the club in the same manner as the C.I.S. final , cheering the team to victory and giving us the opportunity to lay the 105 years s***e to rest. PPPLLLEEEAAASSSEEEE!!!
C'mon Hibs
