Patronising, Insulting Nonsense

[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

"A disappointing aspect of ticket sales for the CIS Insurance Cup Final was the sight of Season Ticket Holders waiting in line for 7 hours to buy tickets on the first day of the Season Ticket Holder priority period. With an allocation of 26,000 tickets and an entitlement of 2 tickets per Season Ticket Holder, every Season Ticket Holder was guaranteed to be able to buy two tickets."

No Crowther, a disappointing aspect of the ticket sales for the CIS Final was the inability of the club to devise a ticketing system that linked ticket office, phone and internet sales. Another disappointing aspect was the inability to select your seat when buying via phone or internet. I expect more for £1.50 booking fee per ticket. The final disappointment was the poor sods who did not receive their tickets through the post from whichever cowboys the club uses for a call centre.

With all that in mind, it's hardly surprising that lots of supporters choose the security of walking away with the tickets they want, in their hands. It's up to the club to take real steps to prevent 7 hour queues. Sticking this crap on the official site is not the answer.

Re: Patronising, Insulting Nonsense

What he said,

Dont see why it cant be implemented to have a system online and on the phone where you can choose your seats. I got mine on the phone and still had to go and pick them up from the ticket office. Seats where fine incidentally but still would be nice to have a choice.

By the way, don't know if anyone else had any problems at Hampden actually finding their seats? I was pretty pished but was with a group of 6 and none of us could find our seat for about twenty minutes, asking stewards and they were clueless. In retrospect the amount of times i've been at Hampden i should have known how the numbering/lettering worked but no....

Re: Patronising, Insulting Nonsense

Agree with your post:

When we go on-line to book, why cant we select our seats?

Other football clubs - such as the Jumbos - who do on-line booking allow you to select your seat, why cant Hibs??

Why not allow people to purchase the same seats that sat in for the CIS final at Hampden, I for one, would be happy with that.

There has got to be a better way to purchase tickets.

Cheers

Remember the 0844 844 1875 number is not a premium rate number, it is a national rate number charged at approx 5p per minute. The Club receives part of the income from that charge and uses the money to subsidise ticket transaction costs for supporters.

Someone purchasing say 100 tickets at once, is then charged an extra £150 - seems a bit like daylight robbery.

Wanted 8 tickets for the final and was told over the phone :

-they couldn't guarantee we'd all be seated together
-it would involve 4 separate transactions
-we'd be charged p&p on each ticket (along with the booking fee obviously)

As the original post states, no wonder so many queued up.

Great post, being a man city fan yesterday i bought a ticket for next fridays game against charlton. They operate a ticketless system in which all people are given a credit card type thing for £2 for the whole season. When you then buy a ticket they automatically put the game onto your card and send you a receipt. Whilst on the phone or net you can pick the very seat that you want for the game. All this is done from a very friendly call centre which does not even charge a booking fee.

If thats what selling 40 odd thousand tickets is like then why do Hibs make such a hassle of selling 26 000. Maybe they could look at using such a system.

Re: Patronising, Insulting Nonsense

If it was Crowther who penned these words, then my question is who the fuck does he think he is? He conveniently forgets:

1. Customer choice.

2. A piss poor online service.

3. A piss poor phone service, that cost me about £2.00 in call charges with absolutely no return.

4. Outrageous P&P and 'handling' charges.

5. A combination of 2, 3 and 4 making it in the financial interests of the fan to queue for so long.

I suspect it was either someone else at the club, or Crowther with the blessing of someone else at the club. Whoever it was should apologise immediately.

You're not suggesting that Cpl Crowther is forced to put his name to work that is not entirely his own, are you? One could easily draw comparisons with that poor sailor imprisoned in Iran!

As if! He's proabably been given a brief on what to write, and produced the shite copy that we were greeted with. It's this bit that gets me most:

I think that's a lie, and would challenge the club to defend their statement. At £1.50 a ticket 'convenience fee' plus (I think) extra for postage, if that's a subsidy then I'm Oo2be Van Hibby.

Re: Patronising, Insulting Nonsense

As soon as i saw that on the fishul site i knew it would all kick off. After the shambolic sale of tickets for the CIS Final one would have assumed the last thing Hibs should be doing is having a pop at those punters who wanted the security of having the briefs in their sweaty little paws.
I mean do they actually believe people WANTED to stand for hours in Baltic conditions? Until the alternative systems are proved beyond doubt to be both robust and reliable then many fans will continue to choose the uncomfortable yet safest option of the long stand.
incidentally i wonder if the ludicrous charges involved in the other methods of purchase are open to challenge as per the recent bank charges case. £1.50 a ticket is nothing short of highway robbery and should be exposed as such.

It is now the case that tickets sent out by post can only be sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery at£4.50 a time! So that's ticket + £6 for out-of-towners!! No wonder people queue overnight.

Re: Patronising, Insulting Nonsense

The booking fee Hibs charge wouldn't be quite so fecking outrageous if they sent out tickets recorded or registered delivery!

I know not everyone has the option to do it, but I wouldn't trust either the ticket office, or the Royal Mail to not feck up my ticket so either I queue or get someone else to do it for me.

And the reason why people queue for 7 hours is because there are only 4 points open where 11,000 people can be served. The ticket office is inadequate for dealing with high volumes of people, and the systems (or lack of them) Hibs have in place mean that each transaction takes an inordinate amount of time.
