Forever Hibernian
The events of the CIS cup final will live with me forever, all the past memories have been flooding back to me as if it were yesterday, grappling and wrestling with my older sisters to watch black and white coverage of my beloved team demolishing Airdrie in a midweek game, sitting on my fathers shoulders surrounded by Huns, watching the Hibs beat them. Like a few other Hibs fans my Dad died missing the latest cup triumph. Making and meeting new friends over the years, through following the club, the heataches of many a let down and then the attempted assassination of our old club by a heartless Hearts chairman. The arrival of Sir Tom Farmer and the passions shown in winning the cup v the Pars in the 90s. The hard work recently behind the scenes of gradually stabilizing the clubs debt and bringing the stadium up to date in terms of facilities. The Sauzee and Latapy spell, Tony Mowbrays refreshing style of total football, culminated with John Collins undoubted football brain and winning attitude. The one thing that struck me was the beautiful mixture of cultures combining, Scottish, English, N Irish, French, Morrocan and Dutch to bring Sunshine on Leith. I witnessed raw emotion from all ages and sexes and don't mind admitting to breaking down in tears after witnessing the celebrations with my immediate and extended Hibernian family, Scotland is alive and kicking without bigotry and racism and the Hibs faithful should take a bow and who knows maybe the Chief will bring more Sunshine to Leith by allowing another famous old trophy back to Easter Rd. Keep on Smiling, GGTTH, Daddy'o.
