Apologies if i missed them but i didnt see any posts regarding mcdonalds performance in the cup final.With grumpy jim doubting him and it being common knowledge he is a hibby didnt he have a great game and only booked the killie players when he had to.Refs always get grief so surely his performance should be praised.Well done dougie even though the cynics will say its easy to ref the team you support when they canter to victory.I wonder how real penalties shouts would have been handled.Fairly i sure.I wonder if he wasnt feeling the pressure after his gaffe against rangers.

Granted I was a tad tipsy at the game, I thought that he gave Killie every 50/50 decision to be honest. Jeffries played a blinder playing on his mind in the lead up to the game & knew exactly what he was up to.

Luckily it didn't matter in the end :YAYYY:

Aye, agree with that. We didn't get a single decision off him all day.

That's not to say he had a stinker, because he didn't. In all honesty he didn't have a lot of huge decisions to make imo.

How the f*ck did Hibs start the second half with nine men isn't it the referees job to count all the players on the park?

This was covered in the thread about the ref it is NOT the responsibility of the ref to ensure that there are 11 players on the pitch but that there is a minimum of 7. The ref wouldn't know if the two players concerned were receiving treatment and therefore not able to make it on time for KO, seeing as the 4th official is consulted with regards to substitutions all the ref needs concern himself with is matters of law and time on the field of play

I was wondering about that as well. I always thought it was the refs job but I can see why that would be difficualt for him given the info in your post

On another day Jones goal could have been disallowed due to Hogg being all over the Kilmarnock defender.

Youre'e absolutely correct... although I think it was Louis Stevenson who fouled the Killie defender just before Jones header. I'm glad McDonald either missed it completely or chose to ignore it. Whatever, it meant we had the pleasure of experiencing one of Hibs most memorable cup final goals ever.
