Dunfermline = relegation fodder
st jonhstone = already proved we can beat them
celtic = kenny ' 3 goals a season' miller

we have the confidence after having won at hampden and celtic have proven that they can be beaten... i just cant see a team other than us winning the scottish cup.

i certainly hope so. i do honestly think we are going to have our most succesfull season ever. and next season after JC has got rid of what believes is the dead wood,sign up players he wants on longer deals. we maybe then can challange higher up the league.

Assuming it's the smellies in the final, we have a much better chance of beating them now than we did against their annoyingly unstoppable treble chasers in 2001. Both teams play football properly. The last game we have against them after the split will be a good indicator of how the final will go. (We lost the similar league fixture before the 2001 final 2-5 at home).

If we lose to the pars it's a disaster not just for us but for the tournament as they'll just get humped in the final by a cricket score. A pointless appearance again.

The last time we played smeltic at ER they only ground out a draw through Lennons antics and stopping our flowing football, and of course Zibbi. So even if we get them in the final who knows? Hibs on our day can beat anyone as has been demonstrated.

i see no reason to depart from my pre CIS approach of expecting nothing. it has worked well so far.

what i would say is that we are certainly in the game after sunday. assuming we beat dunfermline, which i do not take for granted - they have the look of one of these doomed teams set free by a cup competition - then we would have a young team going into hampden again, with a past experience not of the history of disaster that haunts all of us, but of victory. this difference this makes is enormous imho. had we lost on sunday i would give us little chance against celtic. now, as i say, we are in the game.

Dunfermline will be a trickier match than a lot of people are thinking. They will try to stop Hibs playing, and they have one or two players who could cause us problems, along with a canny young manager in Stephen Kenny. Saying all that, I would expect Hibs to win.

St Johnstone will give Celtic a decent game as they are physical and defend well. I just don't think they have anything like enough firepower in their team to trouble Celtic too much, and I think Celtic will get through to the final comfortably enough.

Tremendous though Hibs were on Sunday, it is a completely different matter playing Celtic in a cup final at Hampden. I cannot remember the last time they lost there to any team apart from Rangers (possibly Motherwell in 1991). That club has a winning mentality unmatched in Scotland by anyone. It would take a massive effort and performance from Hibs to achieve a win against them. What gives me some encouragemment is JC's self-belief and confidence in his team. There is also the chance that one or two of our key players would be out injured at that time, and we still have the threat of suspensions for a few of them. Overall I would say there is a small chance of Hibs winning the Scottish Cup, but TBH it's unlikely if we had to play Celtic in the Final.

I think we have to concentrate on beating dunfermline in the semi final first. Dont want us to get ahead of ourselves but this is a massive game which could take us to Europe and i think we need to focus on that and not thinking too far ahead. Wouldnt want us to get complacent.
