European Qualification - Can anyone please put this to bed!

I heard rumours last year that the SFA were going to, or already had, changed the European Qualifying criteria viz the Scottish Cup route.

They discussed making it only possible to get a UEFA cup spot if you actually won the cup as opposed to being beaten in the final by the SPL winners.

I tried various websites for confirmation, but drew a blank, assume some bouncers will be in the know tho'

Does anyone out there have a definitive answer if this change was ever passed? This has caused much discussion in my work as a few (possibly sh1t stirring Jambo) colleagues insist that it is in fact now the case.

Not that it'll affect us this season you understand, as obviously we're destined to actually win the thing this year :YAYYY: , but it would be nice to know for future reference.

Done to death about a month ago, SFA haven't changed the ruling as such....IF the Scottish Cup winners get into the higher ranked competition then the runners up go into the UEFA however IF they qualify from their league position then the UEFA slot goes to the league.

OH and if Rangers get banned out of Europe and we end up in fourth(5 behind with a game in hand and the derby next week) the Jambos would need us to win the cup for them to get into Europe

That would be great imagine the yams wanting us to do the double just so they
could get into europe.

The Yams have applied for the Intertoto so will get in that competition at very least.

Basically as follows (presuming Scottish Cup final is Celtic v Hibernian):

IF HIBERNIAN WIN THE SCOTTISH CUP
1 - Celtic - CL Q3 (or Group if CL winner already qualified through their league)
2 - Rangers - CL Q2 (possibly CL Q3 if above situation occurs)
3 - Aberdeen - UEFA Q2
4 - Hearts - InterToto R2
5 - Hibernian - UEFA R1
6 - Kilmarnock

IF CELTIC WIN THE SCOTTISH CUP
1 - Celtic - CL Q3 (or Group if CL winner already qualified through their league)
2 - Rangers - CL Q2 (possibly CL Q3 if above situation occurs)
3 - Aberdeen - UEFA R1
4 - Hearts - InterToto R2
5 - Hibernian - UEFA Q2
6 - Kilmarnock

Obviously you can move teams league position about, but always remember: if Hibs win the cup we get UEFA R1 slot, if we lose it to Celtic we get UEFA Q2 slot.
