This generation
Has grown up hearing stories of the 91 cup winning team, as others grew up listening to the Turnbulls tornados stories and before that the famous 5 and a few generations before listened no doubt to the 1902 stories and the previous cup winners in the century before. So anyway what Im suggesting is this current generation might just actually be able to top many of the stories gone before. While it is highly unlikely the present or near future team will emulate the success of the famous 5 (3 titles and 2 second places in 5 years though no cup wins), they certainly could more than match Turnbulls tornados. 2 Dryburgh cups were great but a Scottish cup would completely top that. I thought individually the present team might not be as talented as who went before in terms of individual quality, however I've now realised that some of the current crop would hold their own in the 70's team and certainly in the 91 squad. 2 footed Benji I believe can become bigger than Keith Wright, Sproule if he can make progress can become as important as Mickey Weir. Brown unfortunately will leave but is as good as any player from these teams. Jones certainly has a heart every bit as big Hunter. Murphy would also stroll into any of the teams. And as for Stevenson I genuinely believe after his performance yesterday, with the right guidance he can become as important to us as Brownlie was to the 70's team, though needs proper nurturing. And to think that Killen, Zemmama, Stewart, Shiels, were not on from the start or at all. Hopefully Sowunmi (did I spell that right) and the new guy from York will also rise to the challenge. This boy Hagi could be a wonder kid for all we know. This generation (and us older ones) might just be witnessing things that very very few previous generations ever did. Only we need to be realistic, cups wont come along every season, but then they never did for the tornadaos or the 90's team either.

I hope we are on the verge of very big things, and not just one season wonders like our city neighbours To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. He seems bigger than a two footed man when he's on the pitch To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
