Re: Anyone know when SPL split fixtures announed?

They'll probably wait so they can try and fix it so the last OF game doesn't give Celtic the chance to win the title at Ibrox.

Looks like it's gone the way they would've seeded it this year, so we should have Rangers, Aberdeen and Hearts away, Celtic and Killie at home (I think).

Re: Anyone know when SPL split fixtures announed?

That might well be right.

Bizarrely, they can't have seeded it on last season's top 6, because it's the same as this season's top 6 but only Celtic and Hearts will have played 17 games at home pre-split.

So somebody's going to get shafted with a fixture list that ends up 18 homes, 20 aways

They're are being announced on Thursday now but with the Tims not winning the league yet and the SPL keen to avoid them winning it at Ibrox,I think the fixtures will have changed but we'll see on Thursday.

We surely must be the only country in the world who do not want to see the league winners crowned by playing against the team closest to them...

Put it this way, if those who run La Liga had the chance of getting a Barca, Real Madrid game and the winner was going to win the league that day they'd cream themselves. In Scotland we try to avoid it at all costs.

Re: Anyone know when SPL split fixtures announed?

Expect to see Huns v Tims at fixture days 3 or 4 I suspect, and with at least 2 home games for Celtic between now and the OF fixture, for safety. Sad but true.

Re: Anyone know when SPL split fixtures announed?

I havent looked at it myself but somebody was telling me on Sunday that the only way everybody plays 19 homes and 19 aways would mean Hearts playing at Easter Road after the split. How good would that be

Re: Anyone know when SPL split fixtures announed?

Don't think so. Aberdeen playing us thrice at Easter Road is the likely outcome I believe; or us playing Celtic three times away.

Re: Anyone know when SPL split fixtures announed?

In the top half:
Celtic - played 17 at home - due 2 home 3 away in split
Rangers - played 16 at home - due 3 home 2 away in split
Aberdeen - dito
Hearts - played 17 at home - due 2 home 3 away in split
Hibernian - played 16 at home - due 3 home 2 away in split
so one of Gers, Dons, Hibs or Killie will have to play one of Gers, Dons, Hibs or Killie away instead of home i.e. 3-1 balance over season. So one club will end up with H18 A20 (and will have to refund season ticket holders).

In the bottom half:
Falkirk, Inverness CT, Motherwell, St Mirren all played H17 A16 so due H2 A3
Dundee Utd, Dunfermline both played H16 A17 so due H3 A2
so one of Bairns, Jags, Steelmen or Buddies will have to play one of Bairns, Jags, Steelmen or Buddies home instead of away i.e. 3-1 balance over season. So one club will end up with H20 A18 (and will be lucky b*stards).

Re: Anyone know when SPL split fixtures announed?

To then expand on the above for Hibs:

We will DEFINETLY play these teams away:
Celtic, Hearts

We will play 2 (if gave the 18-20 raw deal) or 3 of these teams at home:
Rangers, Aberdeen, Kilmarnock

Now for the analysis:
- it is highly unlikely the SPL would give Rangers the 18-20 imbalance.
- it is also unlikely the SPL would give Aberdeen the 18-20 imbalance.
This is because they are competing for European places.

I would thus expect Hibs or Killie to be given the 18-20 imbalance. If the computer does it it will be random - if the SPL board does it I suspect Killie end up unlucky because they are sixth and because they are a smaller supportered club to complain.

HOWEVER there is precedent to do it on last seasons league positions (this happened with Livingston-Celtic and St Johnstone-Rangers). In which case Aberdeen would be given the away match v Rangers at Ibrox. However bearing in mind these two are directly competing for Europe this seems unlikely.
