I have yet to see a game well refereed at ER this season.

Only decent one i remember is John Underhill against Rangers earlier in the season. Scottish refs are not biased, they are just shit

Think Underhill is a great Ref. He trys to play advantage,and if it doesnt work, he brings the play back. He also trys to let the game flow. Best ref in Scotland IMO.

I think refs have a hell of a job, and we're pretty quick to criticise them. Thomson was no worse than average yesterday- did anyone really notice he was there in the second half?- but the Falkirk player was really unlucky to get a straight red from where I was sitting, and Benji should've had a pen and not a yellow card.

Anyway, this season I've been happy with Underhill, but the best IMO has been Calum Murray who is actually a Jambo apparently. I reckon Dougal is massively overrated and Freeland and Richmond are not great.

Remember a lot of the laws they have to carry out are probably disliked by them aswell as us.

Interestingly every referee in the Spl yesterday were rated very poor in the Sunday Mail--
Dougie Macdonald-4-10
Charlie Richmond-4-10
Craig Thomson-4-10
Alan Freeland -4-10 (probanly his highest mark ever!!

The standard of refereeing in Scotland is shocking. You come away from a game thinking feck me that was one on the worst refs I've seen then next week come away saying the exact same thing. I can understand certain decisions in a game being difficult for the ref but on the whole cant be terribly hard to referee a game of football. Folk moan about the referees in England but compared to Scotland they are world class.

Thing that gets me is when you can see from the stands that a decision was wrong, you go for a pint after the game and someone sitting in a different stand 100odd yards away seen it exactly the same as you. It is then shown on a highlights programme and it turns out you and the person sitting at a completely different angle were absolutely right. We are then proceeded to be told that the only reason we spot mistakes is because they are replayed countless times...

I've no seen the incident with Benji from yesterdays game again on tv, but if that wasn't as stonewall a penalty as you'll ever see I'll remove my spleen with a rusty mallet. Not only that, the player who brought him down was the last man. I personally think the ref realised that and rather than changing the game so dramatically booked Benji to make it a bit easier of a game to referee. He then sent off a Falkirk player for a bad (though by no means what would be the worst challenge I'd have ever seen which either got a yellow or a stern word tbf!) foul which came as a complete surprise to everyone in the ground. He was trying to balance out a bad decision he knew he'd made with another bad one which slightly favoured Hibs rather than dramatically changing the game our way earlier imo. That's just bad refereeing. I'd also point out in the interests of balance that Latapy must have been fouled about half a dozen times yesterday and he didn't appear to notice that either.
