Marshall Talking out of his arse

Marshall backs Brown after errors 05/03/07

Hibernian goalkeeping coach Gordon Marshall insists Simon Brown can recover from his shocking blunders against Rangers.

The Easter Road goalkeeper was at fault for both of midfielder Charlie Adam's free-kicks in the 2-0 defeat at Easter Road on Sunday.

He said: "I've made the same mistake before. Simon was down after the game and apologised for the rest of the team. He came into training and worked very hard, he reacted in a positive way."

He added: "Simon's a good goalkeeper, he just needs to get his confidence back.

"He'll feel as though everyone is talking about him and pointing the finger but that's not true.

"I would expect him to be more positive than anything else. I have to wait and see his reaction and then I can work on it.

"I felt for him during the game as I know what it's like when something like that happens, you just want the ground to open up. But he'll be fine.

"I didn't think there was any problem with his starting position but we'll sit down and talk about it tomorrow and we'll analyse things."

Re: Marshall Talking out of his arse

We can't tell both Zibi and Brown they are useless and will never play again. One of them may HAVE to. (Yes I know.)
I half expected a bit of a vote of confidence from the management team.

The 'starting position' bit baffles me though. He can't be talking about the 3rd minute free kick. Maybe he just meant that he was facing the right way at KO time.

For the avoidance of doubt, anything stated in the above post is written without prejudice; is probably completely uninformed opinion, and possibly just a figment of my imagination. Readers should either ignore, treat with contempt, or simply accept the spirit it is written in, without recourse to huffy replies, legal action or threats of violence.
That includes YOU.

Re: Marshall Talking out of his arse

Good goalkeepers do make the odd mistake however where simon brown and zibby are concerned mistakes are made in every game. After reading the first post,Marshall seems to be lost on the fact that a great number of mistakes made by our keepers have seen us drop a staggering ammount of points of the last 3 seasons. No wonder the fans are angry and unable to give the guy their full support. Both keepers,IMO have had too many chances to prove themselves and should be shown the door in the summer

Sorry but remember Zibi was brought in to replace Brown FFS. Only positive is that this happened before Hampden

Re: Marshall Talking out of his arse

Remarks like this think that maybe we also need a new goalkeeping coach.

Simon Browns positioning at the first was awful. And this guy is a proffesional. Pah

Agreed. And what does he do the day after Brown's blunders? Goes off to Glasgow to promote Setanta's coverage of the Old Firm game with Andy Goram, that's what.

The guys an erse of the highest order Paddy.
I wish someone could tell me WTF he's actually getting paid for. Having two goalkeepers as shite as we have surely means that he's not doing his job either.

Oh and Zibby's off to Gretna till the end of the season.

Part of the Setanta contract perhaps, how about the fact the guy could be on a day off, I would expect the club have sanctioned the appearance anyhow so it is a bit of a moot point
