Whilst i don't agree that he wis 'garbage' he has played far better, although there was an improvement in the 2nd half.

Exactly, the amount of times Whittaker favoured cutting inside instead of even drawing Hutton or the other centre half out was unbelievable.

If only Ivan had the ability to take players away...

Which one do you think is right?

Ivan Sproule has grown on me, but it pisses me off when he gets no criticism when others are fecking slated.

the laddie had 2 players round him everytime he went near the ball today. imo, i'd have stretched the midfield more by playing to murphy more. fair enough we played better in the 2nd half, but wtf was the long ball stuff all about in the 1st?

I would have put a lot of that down to Simon Brown's distribution compared to some of the stuff McNeil puts out. Far better distribution from the back with Andy

I'd look at the game again, Rangers kept constant pressure on Jones/Hogg so the normal short ball outlets were cut off. Ferguson in particular made sure that every time Jones got the ball he got a kick from the wee ned

Aye I get what you mean, Walter Smith seems to rate Ferguson as a goal scorer judging by where he was playing today.

However I mean more regarding some of what you might call medium range passes, where Andy is more keen and able to throw the ball out at a longer range.as opposed to just either the short ball out or a hoof up the park.

true McNeils distribution is very good and is able to throw out to the midfield whereas brown and zibi cant do this or dont have the confidence therefore putting the defenders under pressure alot more!
McNeil also has more awareness and his distribution is alot faster than the rest i.e benjis goal against st Johnstone

Exactly, though the example I was thinking of was the second goal in the Kilmarnock game. If I recall correctly it all came from a great pick out with a throw.

Greenmachine will become famous soon enough
Re: why is sproule getting off scotfree

Smith's tactics were to keep Sproule and Fletcher out of the game by putting two men on them every time they got the ball, thus denying any service from the flanks to Sowunmi.

Ivan tried his best but Murray is too fast and good for him. Should have switched him over to Huttons side much earlier in the game.

Sproule is like shite of a shiny shovel. And Murray has never been any good.
They doubled up on him, thats why he was inefective. Plus he had limited supply of the ball.

I forgot that people that where captain at the club suddenly become shite the second they leave. Murray played badly yesterday but his pace was enough to see off the challenge of Sproule.

Cant remember Sproule ever beating him like he usually does to other defenders.

He did beat him a couple of times in the second half, IIRC, but the double team was usually enough to make sure that Ivan didn't get much further

IMO Sproule would be a better asset used as a sub for the second half.

Murray at best is an average full back. As for speed? He never had any when at ER and I never saw much pace from him on Sunday. It was the fact that they doubled up on Ivan that caused the problem.

If Whittaker had maybe passed a bit more to Ivan, when Murray, and A N Other were higher up the park, you would have seen Murrays lack of pace. And Hibs maybe have had a chance of Ivan putting in a decent service to the forwards.
