Celtic Crowd on Saturday

Anyone get a picture of the stand on Saturday, particularly all the empty seats in home support. Sky Sports gave an attendence of jus under 60,000. NO WAY was there that many

Re: Celtic Crowd on Saturday

I think they count season ticket holders whether they come or not?

Re: Celtic Crowd on Saturday

Spot in, it is the policy of Celtic to count season ticket holders whether they are at the match or not. I'm absolutely amazed if this is allowed from either a safety or tax point of view, so they must have the real figure available as well (after all it is a computerised turnstile system!!) but clearly it would embarrass them to not sell out all the time, so instead they adopt the 'round-it-up' policy. From my point of view it is inexcusable because, when people come to analyse the history of the club, the league etc. in 50 years time it will be misleading. Can you imagine if every club in the country adopted this outrageous policy?

Hibs do exactly that.

And so do most/all clubs that have an ST system. Its common practice, as they've already sold the seat they are entitled to count it in the "offishul attendance". Whether the punter actually turns up or no is a different story. It could take them about a week or so to give you the actual attendance cos they would have to manually count the returned ticket stubs. To give the attendance in "tickets sold" is easier for them all round. The club can't help it if someone decides at the last minute not to turn up.

At games in the past few seasons where the "sold out" signs have gone up at ER there were still empty seats scattered around the stadium. These seats are taken by ST holders who, for whatever reason, hav'nt been able to attend the match and hav'nt informed the club that they can re-sell their seat, some do, some don't.

I've tried to buy extra tickets around where I sit in the Lower West but I'm constantly told by the Ticket Office that there is'nt a seat to be had as they are ALL taken by ST holders. When the game comes round there are still some empty seats. I'm not talking hunners o' seats but just enough to be noticed. In all probability, there could be as much as 200 seats empty throughout the stadium at a "sell-out" game at ER.

Its happening big-time at the Bus Shelter. They're claiming sell-outs for the last 7062 games on the trot but if you watch the highlights of their games on Zittelli there are big swatches of empty seats in the HOME end. The "Believers" cant all be in the bog spewing up at the same time, can they?

I read a statistic somewhere which reckoned that, on average, ST holders miss 10% of home games. At ER that would be only 2 games and I see that as being a reasonable number when you factor in late changes to dates of games etc tbh.

Re: Celtic Crowd on Saturday

For the past 3 seasons me and a mate have bought season tickets for seats that are not yet taken in the Family Stand..

Our laddies are not yet old enough to go but we've bought (£40 a year) so we guarantee them a space when Mammy stops dragging them round the shops every saturday afternoon..

Also, it's handy for tickets!!

Why on earth aren't you telling the club this?

For the occasional games that are sell outs, there is a complete reliance on folk who are ST holders informing the club that the ticket will not be used so that others can get in who otherwise wouldn't.

Fecks sake dude...
