Re: murphy

It's more feasible than the repeated claims from Aberdeen fans that Stevie Lovell should be getting a call-up to the England squad......

Why would GJP want to look at him? He's English FFS!!

There are some pretty decent left backs about for Scotland. Steven Smith at the hun springs to mind, as does Wallace at the yams!!
Not that i think neither are better than Murphy, but they are Scots!!

would you say that lee naylor is ahead of Murphy for a possible call up as was suggested after the man utd game?

IMO naylor is an average spl player where as murphy sticks out with quality week in week out, in fact has he ever had a bad game in his 102 for the club?

Is he any slower than Gary Neville who has been rock solid for England and Man Utd for years

There is absoloutly no chance of Murphy being called up but he's certainly good enough to play against the likes of Israel and Andorra. Scotland arnt exactly bursting with pace but have managed to match the likes of Italy, Germany and France in the past.

Murphy could do a dedent job at International level imo but will never get the chance unless he moves to the Premiership.

put it this way - he's easily the best left back in the spl and coasts through 90% of his time on the pitch...we wont really know how good he can be untill he's tested which he wont be at this level.

Like the rest of the team, he's had some stinkers - the recent one at Inversnecky springs to mind. But he never drops his head and always seems to be trying hard. I would say he's our Mr Consistency.

Re: murphy

Murphy looks in total control most of the time, he almost seems to treat the opposition he faces with most weeks with disdain. He works hard, a quiet but efficient player, never does more than is necessary but seldom makes a mistake (though Burke a couple of Rangers games ago springs to mind......) he could quite easily be down at any of the bottom 6 to 8 Premiership clubs, in a way one suspects if he had the integrity of Brown and Thomson he would have been advertising himself, and been away, ages ago. I have a hell of a lot of respect for David Murphy, top class defender, undoubtedly amongst the best players in the SPL.
