Crowds

Lowest crowd this season is 10,640 against Dinaburg in the Intertoto in a game which was not eligible for STs and was full price.

Not been under 11,000 in any domestic game.

I reckon that this is historically the biggest consistent support that Hibs have ever had. Pat on the back for us

The lowest was 7834 at the Peterhead match, but that was a blip. Crowds have been superb this season, no doubt about it.

Re: Crowds

Somehow I can see increasing Season Ticket sales as a hindrance, not a help. We already have about 10,600 plus half-seasons/Cat B half seasons, and we can only sell about 13,000 home tickets when Rangers, Celtic or Hearts come, in which case an increase to say 12,600 season tickets would basically rule out occaisonal fans altogether. The solution would of course be to only give Rangers, Celtic and Hearts half the South Stand like everyone else (after all, at Ibrox and Parkhead we don't get a whole end or even 4,000 seats) but if we did this with Hearts we would ourselves only get half a stand at derby matches at Tynecastle.

I've advocated this for some time - only give half of the South Stand to away support if we can sell the other half to HIBS supporters. After all it's HIBS we care about. Hibs should start thinking like a BIG club and look after their own first.

The solution is simple. Develop the east stand at the end of the season. Time is running out on the planning permission anyway. It will not be removed. To do thisw now and keep the momentum seems to make sense.

Re: Crowds

you cant really half the away end without leavin quite a big section of seats in the middle empty which reduces money coming in. A bigger east stand will allow for more fans at the big games. Just look at how many were in the south stand the other day, there would be even more coming along to derbies and other big games. With a potential 4m coming for brown it makes sense to get it done now

just give them the bottom section then, and Hibs fans the top, that would cut out the need for a segregated area.

Bet Hibs would sell-out the top section for ST's with fans knowing they'd be sitting right above the Gunts/Huns/SDB's

I agree with that, sounds like the best solution. i dont mind too much when its hearts but i really hate seeing the old firm teams take over a whole stand. especially when we know we can sell out half the south stand for games like Gretna and Motherwell

I dont know why, shirley from a polis perspective it would be far easier to manage crowd control when exiting the stadium. Both tiers are fully segregated from each other, inside the concourse as well as in the seating, so cant really see the problem.

There could be an issue with fans above lobbing something over the edge, which happens on a regular basis when we visit the Hunnery,

but stewarding/polis and cctv, and the removal of the offenders ST, would deal with that.

dont a few premiership teams put away fans in a lower tier with home fans above? Arsenal, Man City and Sheffield United do so anyway I think

Personally, I would rather look at a South Stand one third full of Hibs supporters and one third away supporters than a quarter full of away supporters any day.

Re: Crowds

The Safety at Football Grounds (Scotland) Act 199? specifically prohibits the placing of home fans above away fans or vice versa within throwing distance at domestic matches. If you sit close enough to the South you'll notice that the sections above the away fans are roped off. The simple solution would of course would be to build some turnstiles in the SE corner of the ground and give away fans half to a third of the East Stand, but I don't think this would go down to well with the Bounce faithful......only problem with redeveloping the East Stand is we LOSE around 3,000 seats for most of a season, or play out of Meadowbank for a year with the associated temporary upgrades and expenses that would result from it.
