Re: lynch and campbell
Campbell did absolutely nothing, subbed at half time, Lynch played out 90 minutes and did OK but nothing more, mainly in a holding midfield role. To be fair to them, they are really too young and inexperienced for first team football apart from occaisional appearances off the bench at the minute, but with a thin squad and lots of matches recently Collins clearly felt the need to rotate the team again, which I agree with - it's just that I would have played Morrow and McCluskey instead of Lynch and Campbell. I was also surprised that Hogg didn't feature (wasn't even on the bench) since Jones is suspended from the next SPL match.

Re: lynch and campbell
I thought Lynch had a reasonable game in the 2nd half, first time he's appeared in the first team so give him a chance.

Pretty much disagree with all that...thought Lynch played well, made the right choice of pass throughout the game and covered alot of ground, no doubt in my mind, he's got a real future ahead of him at Hibs.Campbell did less to impress, but thought he showed a good touch and awareness....his first time ball to Sproule to release Ivan was great. He might be a bit slight, but I seem to recall the same being said about Derek Riordan when he first appeared on the scene. Morrow is yesterdays man..if Collins rated him we would have seen him by now. |

Re: lynch and campbell
Bit of rotation I think, and giving the two young lads a shot. Although I still don't understand why Morrow and McCluskey aren't featuring at all, they're not that bad, and we're hardly endowed with any kind of strength in depth in our squad, the midfield excepted possibly.
Can anyone fill me in on the situation with Jonathon Baillie, never seen nor heard of him even in reserves since his loan to Clyde finished in the summer: is he injured? Is he sh*te? We've only got 3 centre-backs, and Jonathon can play at RB or CB I believe? |

Re: lynch and campbell
I thought Lynch was very decent tbh. He worked hard, decent passer of the ball, and looked to me as if he was a good reader of the game. I'm not completely convinced that he was right, but JCs assesment of "we have a replacement at the club for Katie" is looking a reasonable bet imo.
Campbell imo isn't ready yet. He needs to work on a lot of areas of his game. He's probably no going to get much bigger, so he needs to work on general strength, and reading a game so he can get into the right places. He does work his erse off, and annoys defenders. I hope he proves me completely wrong but he doesn't look much more than a squad player to me. Saying that, I do think he offers a lot more than the likes of Sam Morrow...

Re: lynch and campbell
Who has Morrow gone on loan to though? I though Chesterfield fell through? The Hibs website, Wikipedia etc. haven't got him down on loan and The Scotsman didn't have him listed as having gone out on loan during the January window (like Glass)?

Re: lynch and campbell
I thought campbell was doing ok when he was on. Obviously will need to improve a lot but he showed flashes that he could go on to do a decent job imo.
I thought Lynch looked lost in the first half and just drifted about but I thought he came onto a game in the 2nd half. Hopefully we get a chance to see them more often to get a better idea of how they will do but JC has obviously seen something to offer them new deals.

Re: lynch and campbell
I thought they both did alright, but neither are ready yet to be regular first team players IMO.
Campbell showed some decent technique but is not really strong enough to cope with SPL defenders. Sean Lynch worked hard, and came on to a decent game. We cannot expect too much from these lads. Hopefully they will continue to work hard at their game, and eventually become regular first team players for us.
