Bill leckie says not a sending off, Colqhoun says it was a stone waller...no surprise there then.

Shocking that STV have allowed a text message from a Yam saying that the challenge "could have taken Craig Gordons eye out"

Get that sick crap off ya bams

The ball clearly rolls round the back of Gordon - and Shiels changes direction as soon as the ball goes the other way. It is very evident on the Setanta coverage from behind the goals

Re: STV the now

I've watched it again and again and again - Gordon steps up in front of Deano as he's changed direction to collect the ball.

I'm totally sickened by Mondays game, I've never felt so cheated in all my football supporting life.

Re: STV the now

At the time I thought it was a ridiculous sending off, and I still think it was. Perhaps a yellow card at worst, but it was a complete accident. The linesman said a punch was thrown, and he was wrong. There was no punch thrown. It was just an accidental collision which could happen at any time.

Having said that, I don't think there is much chance of Hibs winning this appeal. The linesman would have to admit he got it wrong. The referee was going to take no action at all until the Hearts players and Gordon's overreaction forced him to speak to the linesman who said there had been "violent conduct". In a way I can understand the linesman saying he thought there was a punch thrown, because from his angle it probably looked that way. However I can't see him admitting to an appeals panel that he got it wrong.

Why does he have to admit it for them to believe he was wrong

The TV evidence proves he got it wrong, simple as that, Shiels's red was based on the linesman saying he saw a punch, he never saw any such thing, so how can anything he said he saw pertaining to that incident be taken into account. He doesn't know what he saw and he certainly didn't see what he said he did.

Thats the way I saw it from the footage last night. Can't believe how little time they gave to what was the biggest match of the weekend though. Talked about the Shiels incident and nothing else.

You have to admit from the linesmans perspective IE the picture Eck the Hibee posted it looks like Deano is punching Gordon. Camera footage from other angles will show that the lino misinterpreted what he saw from his side on view and therefore the red card will be rescinded. I dont think its a question of the lino being wrong. It is however a question of a very weak ref who bottled making a decision and pinned the onus firmly on the linos chest and that in itself is wrong.

I didn't say he was deliberately wrong but nonetheless wrong he was and as Deano was sent off on his say so. That in itself IMO sould be enough to get it reduced to a yellow but I'm no holding my breath waiting on a correct decision. No doubt they will as usual close ranks and back up their officials who are never wrong

There is no doubt in my mind from that footage that that there was no intent on Shiels's part and that Gordon also deliberately made a move to cause a collision then pretended to be injured worse than he was.

Got to be impressed by their phsyio, Gordon went from being out cold for several minutes to being resurrected faster than Lazarus. Bearing in mind the thumping to the head he allegedly receieved, would concussion not have been a concern, therefore should he have been allowed to stay on the pitch? On the other hand, he's just a cheating Yam bastard, so business as usual down there.

Re: STV the now

Think this is one the most debateable incidents ive witnessed in a long time.
As a Hibs fan though ive got to say it was never a red. Shiels is not running towards that prick Gordon with the intent of knocking him to the ground, he is clearly going for the ball and he sticks his hands up at the last minute as a reflex, he does NOT punch or shove him which is the reason he got sent off.
Although to be fair he probably shouldn't of ran into the net in the first place as there was always a chance this would happen especialy against they cheating bastards.

Re: STV the now

Agree with an earlier post about the length of coverage we got for that game. I turned of after watching the 3 minutes of the huns game (longer than the derby). Not bigging up Hearts but their third goal was a screamer and how they never even discussed the game is beyond me. For me that was a proper football game a great advertisment for Scottish football, Passion, Long ball (mainly hearts), passing quick entertaining football (mainly hibs), but for Scotsport to give that 4 minutes coverage tops, plus a measly 2 minutes discussing whether or not Deano was right or wrong was pathetic IMHO.

Anyhow after throwing my slipper at the TV in disgust at them not even contemplating whether Gordon the bass had made a xmas day turkey out of the incident, we were then treated to ICT V Rangers, one to send the heart races into overdrive. I thought lets see how much coverage these bafoons get. SAme old story, considering there was no replays or 5 replays of the Hibs game really, i was treated to a 20 yard trickler by Baz inside the first 3 minutes, not even close to going in, centre of the goal standard save, yet I WITNESSED THAT BLEEDING SHOT 4 TIMES ON REPLAY, AS I WAS SAD ENOUGH TO COUNT. After that blazing shot i switched of and called it a night as the painful memories of Sarah O and Julien were coming back to haunt me.
