Jackie Macnamara Jr

have heard he's gonna be available on a free transfer from Wolves in january, fully fit but not getting in the team down there, not sure what sort of wage he'd want but could be a good acquisition for us

If we sell for £3 Million either SB or KT there may be a requirement to put Whittaker further forward leaving a gap at right back..

His Old boy was in the FF on Saturday..

cover at either full back position or in midfield, would be a good signing imho

We had the chance to sign him for £200K many years back (was he at Dunfermline) - we thought he was too expensive.

Yep he offers tremendous flexibility. Top player and top professional with the bonus of being a Porty High boy...

Re: Jackie Macnamara Jr

I'd rather we didn't. Its great that his pappie is a good Hibby, but the boy's about 35. Not really forward thinking IMO. Hibernian need to continue to focus on attaining players who are young and hungry, or need to prove themselves. Last thing we need is journeymen.

Good player in his time, and quite gutted at the time that he went to soapy land instead of Hibs, but not for us.

Disagree. We need IMHO a couple of experienced players in the side.

Had a player like Jackie been in the side on Sunday maybe one of the poor goals we lost on Sunday would have been avoided?

As long as he's looking for a wage within the structure..

He's only 33 Greenscratch, maybe we could have done with a bit of experience in the second half on sunday

Re: Jackie Macnamara Jr

I seen him walking his dog the other week, and the amount of times I've seen him in the last few months made me wonder if he was still with Wolves.

Anyhows...33 year old and only played a couple of games in a year. He might have played with Collins at Celtic or their time might just have missed each other.

It depends if he's fit and hungry for it anymore. I think JC would spot that straight off. Not for the long term though, if we got a year out of him we'd be doing well.

Cool tricky. Thought he was abit older. Agree we could have done with a bit of experience on Sunday. However the goals would have been stopped had our management team popt another body in the middle to stifle the Sno laddy. Coz Ivan took an injury and understandably wasn't as effective, I thought Whitty was a little exposed 2nd haf. Lone striker at 2-0 with a pact midfield would have sorted sunday. (but then so would the soapy going down to NINE men).

Re: Jackie Macnamara Jr

I said on this very forum, around 2 years ago, that I believed Jackie jnr would end his career at Hibs. Why, I even had an avatar with him in a Hibs jersey.

Still think and hope it will happen. His experience would be invaluable, I reckon.

Re: Jackie Macnamara Jr

Hes a fine player and at 33 we could easily get two years out of him. He would give us excellent cover in the full back pocitions and can play central midfield. I also think he would help greatly with the lads footballing education on the mental side, I mean this is a guy who has spent years and years at Celtic winning silverware. Out of al the players youd want in a cup semi/final I think he is defo up there.

Two years playing then a possible coaching role?

Re: Jackie Macnamara Jr

i dont think jackie mac would be a terrific signing in that he wouldnt particualrly enhance the first team but can you imagine the wealth of knowledge he would be able to hand onto steven whittaker esp on the defensive side of his game? how many times did jackie win the league? and hes played in a european final. its not possible to buy that experience(apart from in this scenario)

I am sure Jackie senior was asked this before the start of the season and he doubted very much that his laddie would come to ER because of the huge drop in wages.
