Hibees shoot down claim of Gers meeting over star duo
DAVID HARDIE

HIBS today categorically denied a claim that chairman Rod Petrie had met Rangers chief executive Martin Bain to discuss the futures of Easter Road stars Kevin Thomson and Scott Brown.

The Easter Road outfit are understood to be furious at a report in a Glasgow-based newspaper this morning that the pair had met amid claims the Ibrox outfit want to sign the midfield aces.

It was further stated that, although no bid had been tabled at "yesterday's meeting", a line of communication had been opened and a "hard cash offer" would follow for one of both of the players in the coming days - even although the next transfer window doesn't open for another six weeks.

However, a Hibs spokesman today strenuously insisted: "Categorically, there was no meeting."

Other than that Hibs are refusing to comment further on the speculation which has begun swirling around their star pair since they appointed Willie McKay as their new agent.

Brown is under contract until 2009 and Hibs skipper Thomson until a year later, deals they agreed only a few months ago

wonder whos telling the fibs??

Re: Evening news

well duh, since when has the Daily Ranger ever told the truth? I'll tell you something, by worrying about it, you're giving these bastard journalists, (who no doubt sit in their little offices making these fables up whilst wearing the sashes their fathers wore) exactly what they want. We need to stand up and support the boys in times like this.

EK Hibby is on the way to a first team debut
Re: Evening news

Not sure about legalities but if I kept making up lies about someone i'd be seen in court. Isn't it time that our legal guys dragged representatives of the Retard into ER for a chat.

We know this is papers making money out of no more than idle gossip and rumour mongering but some body has to say enuff is enuff. Lets say we lose tomorrow because this is unsettling and we miss out on Europe by 3 points. This has financial implications to our club and it's future. There should be financial penalties.

Surely, as it's not just us, watch Aberdeen and Russell Anderson next, club chairmen should be saying something. We all know Mad Vlad is a complete donkey but maybe he does have some valid points.

So come on RP, it's ok to deny stories but let's see some action. I think the fans deserve it.

I agree EK, Mad Vlad may be a dangerous looney, but his points about the Old Firm are as valid as my bus pass at the moment. He is probably the only person with the balls to speak out about the blatant favouritism that exists towards the Glasgow tyrants in Scottish football and in the media. As soon as a club like Hibs starts to look like they could be capable of toppling these oh so mighty powers, the media will be out to get them by whatever means, and it's our job to stand up and be counted.

Re: Evening news

Re the press - I have heard some pash over the years when it comes to football and I'm amazed that players and clubs don't sue in the way celebs do when stories are written about them which turn out to be untrue. I mean if a journo wrote that Robbie Williams was changing his record company he'd sue them!. It's just a thought but i'd love to see Hibs take the daily retard to court!

Re: Evening news

No wonder, this is another joke, PLG and Rangers have been told by Collins that they cant afford either player and will have to break the bank to buy, but Rangers will not do this, they will try and sell both players on the cheap and probaly put in something like 750,000 for the both of them, they always do this and the same with Celtic, but both the OF have to learn now that we dont have to sell our players because we are in a great finanacial position which means that i reckon we are no SELLING CLUB anymore.

Interestingly we're told that there's been no meeting however can they confirm there's been no contact?

The Retard is just feeding on the panic that's rippling through the Hun camp at the moment.

Best response will be to pump them (again) on the 9th December.
