Pulled this over from dotnet, excellent point.....
What Willie Mckay did and didn't say ?? Did say..... "But it does make you stop and think. If Kevin and Scott are worth £2m or even £3m each, as John himself says, then why are Hibs paying them buttons?" Didn't say ""But it does make you stop and think. Work's both ways surely ... if the agents sole purpose is to get the biggest deal financially for him and his clients why is HE not slagging off clubs for making a paltry offer for their services ???

Since when was there a correlation between a player's current salary and their potential transfer value?
The only thing that they have in common is that they're both negotiated to the respective parties' satisfaction. In the case of salaries, it's the player and the club; in the case of transfers, it's the buying and selling club. So, where do agents fit in other than advise players and try to get the best deal for their charges? That's right; nowhere. On that basis Mr MacKay should shut the fuck up when the subject matter is over a deal that was concluded to both parties' satisfaction before he began representing the players. If his rantings are at the request of Brown/Thomson (which I seriously doubt - it seems to me that his ego takes precedence over all else), then they should be reprimanded by the club. In private, of course.

Original point still stands though - if Rangers ( or anyone ) offered 2mill+ each for them then Hibs would sell - Huns just looking to screw us - again ! |
