Just because Real Madrid could pay Kevin Thomson £40k a week, doesnae make him worth £40k a week.

Hibs have a wage structure, they need to have one to remain in business. KT is only worth £2K a week to us. For his agent to suggest otherwise is complete bollocks.

Does anyone actually know what wages the pair are on It seems to me that just because the Retard says £1400 per week it doesnt mean its true,in fact its probably shite.
Whatever the top wage is at ER,Broony&Thomo should be earning it.If not then a renegotiation seems fair to me

If Hibs were to renegotiate on the deals signed only a few months ago then there would be a queue forming at Petrie's door of every other player looking to renegotiate on their contract..

We need to look at the wage structure seriously anyway imo. We will continue to lose players and go through this situation for eternity until we change it.

Think of the current squad, then add Riordan, O'Connor, Murray (assuming he was fit obviously) and Andersson to it. All of those players left Hibs to some extent or other over wages. If the top wage at ER was £4k a week (which imo is well possible) rather than under £2k as it is presently, we would have a better squad, and to a far greater extent be able to actually knock back bids without players becoming pissed off about it since they would be losing fortunes. We would still lose players, but hopefully that would be for footballing reasons rather than financial ones.

Of course you're still going to have players who will leave for trebling or quadrupling their wages even with a higher maximum wage at ER, but it would be a lot easier to keep those who want to stay as I believe that all of the players mentioned above would have done.

As an aside, if the club want to bum up our finances as being "rock solid" they should maybe think of what that actually means.

Quite right Smurf. Just because you think you are worth more (personally I think my boss should treble my wages but I asked him and he told me to F*ck off) doesnt mean you are. If we win the CIS / Scottish Cup - more important - and/or finish second in the league then the extra revenue generated by success could and should in part at least, be passed down to the players. I thought they were on 2.5K a week but perhaps I am incorrect.

Way back in the mists of time we had a team that was torn apart by wage demands when (I think) Joe Baker came back to ER on top wages and everyone else demanded parity. Even if it wasnt the great man the point still stands, give Broonaldo and Thommo a wage rise and everyone will want one, it wont take long before we dont have a team.

Imagine the outcry if the club went to a player not producing the goods and say 'That contract we gave you a few months back - we want to renegotiate it..'
