SCOTTISH League secretary Peter Donald last night revealed there's a £1million jackpot on offer to the CIS Cup finalists.

And he also laughed off suggestions that the competition had turned into a poor relation because the Old Firm have been eliminated.

Rangers' conquerors St Johnstone face Hibs in the semis with Falkirk, who beat Celtic, taking on Kilmarnock.

The Easter Road club's game will go on at Hampden, but the venue for the other tie is to be decided over the next 24 hours.

And if the final can pull a full house to the National Stadium, the participating clubs can expect a £500,000 windfall.

Donald said: "It's a huge sum of money to be paid for one day's work. And that's what Celtic and Dunfermline received when they met in last year's final.

It may well turn out to be Hampden, but at the moment the SFL and all 4 clubs have to decide.

Theres a nice lady at the SFL offices called Geraldine who tells me that they(SFL) are concentrating on the Challenge Cup Final on sunday, at McDiarmid Park, between Clyde and Ross County. This is their priority at the moment.

It means that at 10.45am today I phoned the SFL at Hampden to ask if a decision on the venues for the CIS Semi-finals had been made, and was told by a young lady called Geraldine that no decision had been made yet and they were concentrating on another Cup Final they were staging this weekend between Clyde and Ross County at McDiarmid Park.

I would think that the Killie v Falkirk game would be more likely to be at Hampden what with one team coming fer the West and the Other Central Scotland? Whereas our game involves two more eastern teams...or would that be too logical for the SFA?

Would that be the same 'weegie biased self-preservists' that decided we should play Hearts at Hampden, which of course suited Hibs since Hearts knew Murrayfield better than us. An argument ironically that St Johnstone could level against us if we were to play them at Tynecastle.
