First impression is very positive.

However, I need time to study it before I can lambast it properly.

First impressions are that overall i think it's definitely a step in the right direction.

I do think though that it's a bit busy in parts and in other parts i'd like to see the interviews a little more substantial.

Re: Hibs launch online magazine

I think it's really good!

It mentions that fans feedback is essential to finalise the format etc so that's good, it's well set out and looks professional. It mentions that after a trial period it may be in the region of 50p a week! not cast in stone

Good interviews in there, adding too much depth can put many people off reading a piece, I think the articles hit the spot!

I suppose if you want big articles there's always broadsheets to buy or read on line!

Re: Hibs launch online magazine

They're 'considering' charging 50p - see the intro on page 2. Seems that they're also 'considering' dropping the freebie weekly email in favour of charging said ten bob. Whilst the content and layout is very good (albeit in the sterile form that I fecking hate about offishul publications), replacing an established freebie with something that can only be accessed at a cost is a bit unfair IMO.

Looking at it's value (if it does start to cost) from the cost-per-page angle, 5p for an A5 e-sheet of paper is taking the piss a bit. I'd read it for diddley, but not at a cost.

Re: Hibs launch online magazine

Maybe an angle is tie in the new magazine with the 50:50 draw which IMO is hugely undersold..

If we could see that sales of this magazine could win you a few quid, raise a few quid for the Youth of Hibernian and get you a half decent mag i think for a £1 or £1.50 it could be onto a winner..

Re: Hibs launch online magazine

I have not read it yet but I would say in principle this is a good move. There is a big on-line Hibs community and the idea of charging for content is fine as long as the quality is worth paying for.

This move shows some imagination on how to use new media.

As for the cost of 50p against the cost of a programme it is not an unreasonable expense.

Lambast ahoy!

Rubbish URL. Who's supposed to remember [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] Also, the page tag says HibernianFCGoal.net - a URL that does not exist.

Takes far too long to load.

A complex and non-searchable way to display content that should be available on the website.

A classic piece of bad web strategy, looks flashy, must have impressed the board when it was printed out but there is no clear reason for doing it this way rather than via a website.

On a design point-of-view, I completely agree with the first statement. Certainly looks the part, but looks like there's been 'too much time' spent on it.

If its existence is for an online book format, then I'm not entirely sure how it's going to be workable. Certainly there are zero printing costs for a full-colour glossy mag, but if you're reading it online then shirley the official website is the home for news and interviews on Hibs?

If it's existence is for a printed format, likely for matchdays or subscription, then Smurf's idea of tying it in with the draw and for it to benefit youth football is an excellent one. Especially if every penny of profit went DIRECTLY to that destination, with the appropriate blurb on the cover promoting that.

Ahhh, here we go: "We hope you enjoy this first edition of Goal.net, the digital newspapers for Hibernian fans. You won't see it in the shops or fluttering about in recycling centres. Just check your email inbox every week for the latest news from Hibernian."

No printing costs then. Pay some sort of subscription via Hibernian Interactive and there you go....

Yep, the original thread started off with a 'Planet Hibbie', not what was published today.

Thats what I was thinking.

Had a chance to peruse over this and first thoughts is its a very good newsletter, vast improvement on the existing one, but the content is what should be on the offishul site. In fact its something that should be on the site.

The interviews were no bad(who is this Craig McGill gadgey

)

Canny understand why, after a few issues, they want to start charging 50p

I take it it would be a yearly subscription of say £15?

Is it worth that? Dont think so.

If this is to replace the existing free newsletter then fine, its a new concept, something novel,(quite liked reading about Roughie

) but its never a Club mag. Is it?

Canny help but think someone just scanned this weeks programme into some sort o' media programme and Bobs yer auntie.
