WTF can JC make of that?

We've been watching Hibs under Mowbray for 2 years and seen a mixed bag of performances but nothing quite like that.
1st. (Kevin who is my No 1). had a crap game. That's not normal.
2nd. Defence was shitting themselves. No confidence, no organization, going for same ball and bad decision making.Even Murph was off form. That isn't normal. Murph is a hero and the Defence this year has been very good.
3rd. Stewart had a poor game. He's been great this year too.
4th. Fletch was crap throughout and we know he's better.
5th Zibby..at least he should be clear about what to do with him.

......well at least we did take one positive from the game, Ivan Sproule had a great game today and i wish the rest of the team played like him and got the fans up for the second half like Ivan did, well done Ivan on a good performance today.

Re: WTF can JC make of that?

I thought Mikey played well. MoM for me was between him and Ivan. Thommo was indifferent, very poor by his standards. In the meantime, I have searched E-bay in vain for a keeper

2. Agreed.
3. Thought Stewart played all right actually. One of better players today IMO.
4. I dont know that he is better than that. I keep hearing that he is but never actually seen it.
5. Zibby is a waste of space.

1/ Thomson has had better games, but I wouldn't say he was crap. He worked hard enough, but the midfield was very congested due to both teams playing exactly the same system.

2/ Defence looked uneasy, especially at set-pieces. Terrible defending for the second Killie goal. It wasn't just Malkowski to blame, Jones or Martis should have attacked the ball as it came in, and not just waited for it.

3/ Michael Stewart played well I thought, but again it was difficult when both teams
were cancelling each other out, particularly in the first half.

4/ Without being too critical of an otherwise promising young player, I don't think Fletcher is as good as he he is made out to be. He certainly can't play the lone striker role as he is not physically strong enough, and he gets knocked off the ball too easily. Took his goal well though.

5/ Yes, he is a poor keeper, but it was not entirely his fault that we conceded the second goal. Our defence goes too deep at set-pieces, and the communication is poor beteen Zibby and his defence.

I thought Hibs played very well for about 15 minutes in the second half. The first half was a non-event as both teams set up with five across the middle. We should have won when we got 2-1 ahead. After they equalised we became a bit too desperate. I thought Collins would have started with Benji and Fletcher up front, but he wanted Boozy back in, so fair enough. Killie are the only team in the SPL who defend and attack entirely as a team unit. They have one or two useful players as well.

Not a bad start for JC, the team seemed a bit more calm and disciplined, so that was a start anyway. Here's hoping it all goes right on Wednesday night.

Re: WTF can JC make of that?

looks like i'm alone in thinking we actually were the better team the day. once again the points we lost are down to individual erroers. that must stop. i'm sure we don't have to tell JC what we need to start winning games. i reckon nothing much needs done to start a run of wins. a keeper change would be suffice.

Agreed, the boy on front of me was shouting on his norman so we joined in and no one else did. TBH the only time the east rose to their feet was for the 'jim jeffries song'

Re: WTF can JC make of that?

Fletcher IMHO is not a natural striker in the mould of Killen. He needs to give us more movement up front - on too many occasions, attacks fizzled out because no one was moving into space. I make exception for the goal - he took it very well. But he needs to attack the ball rather than wait for it to come to him. I reckon if Killen had played today he would have taken the match ball home with him.

Sproule had the Killie left back in knots all afternoon - his pace was electrifying. If someone like Killen had been arriving in the box to coincide with Ivan's great runs we would have won comfortably.

Murphy was under-par today, however I can remember left backs at ER for whom we would have classed that as a good day. He was clearly not 100% fit but we can't fault his effort - he made some great runs, particularly late in the game when he must have been tiring.

Zibi - well it's all been said and I agree -

"Time for bed" said Zibi.

Re: WTF can JC make of that?

if you're a defender and you lack faith in your keeper, you resort to the tactics of martis. boot the ball anywhere other than your own goal area.

If Killen had been in the same position as Fletcher, 1 on 1 with the goalie (when we were 2-1 up) he would have buried that without even thinking. Fletcher on the other hand chose to hit it straight at the goalie.

I'm not doubting his talent Jimmy, merely pointing out that he f**ked the chance up.

and so did zemmamma and sproule. there will always be mistakes made in a game. but as long as we create chances, the goals will come. imo, our priority should be how to stop leaking goals. only then will the goals for start to have an effect.

Cant argue with any of that. Clear cut chance though

The defence was shocking today, midfield not much better without broonaldo in there driving the team on. Too many holding midfielders and not enough attacking ones? Mibbe Dean Shiels would have been a beter choice than boozy.

As an aside, do you think Tommo should relinquish the captaincy. Mibbe its just me but he doesnt seem to have played as well since he was made captain.
