John Collins

Its saying in the record that Mowbray is one of 3 potential targets for west brom and if he goes there we may get Collins. I doubt either will happen but just out of intrest what would you think of Collins? Personally I would say no. We took the gamble of having a manager with no experience with Mowbray and it paid off. But I think thats a bit of luck and dont think we should do that again as it could be a Sauzee again. For a first job, this division is to much for a new manager I think no matter how good a player he was. Look at Paul Lambert.

I don't think Mowbray will go tbh. He's already said that no contact has been made etc. Hugh Keevins knows best though, eh?

As for JC. If TM was to go I think he would be a great replacement. He's young, ambitious and smart. He's presumably got good contacts in the UK and France and is as good a role model for players as Tony himself. Sauzee and Lambert both came straight from playing at the club they became manager of, I'm not sure how they are comparable.

Re: John Collins

If you were to take a chance with someone with very little managerial experience, as we did with Mowbray, then John Collins wouldn't be a bad choice.

He spent a fair bit of time in France as well as the Premiership so he'll not be short of knowledge of various coaching and tactical techniques.

Re: John Collins

Mowbray was an inexperienced manager when he arrived at Hibs but he was far from inexperienced in a coaching sense having been first team coach at a level knocking on the door of the Premiership.

Where has John Collins been coaching in recent times?

Anyway, what 'Newspaper' is reporting this story?

Oh well it's a non thread then..

He's a pretty well qualified coach but in terms of practice there's nothing. His appointment would IMO be far greater of a risk than Tony Mowbray's who was a been-there-and-done-it Coach.

IMO Collins needs to get Coaching experience before becoming a Manager.

Re: John Collins

John Collins is one of my favourite Hibs players of all time. An intelligent, articulate guy who had a fantastic career playing for some big clubs at a high level. However, much as I would like to see him back at Easter Road as manager sometime in the future, I don't think he is ready yet to take the Hibs managers job.

I also don't think that particular job will be vacant for some time yet. I think Mowbray wants to stay and win a long overdue trophy before he moves on.
