I admire his honesty. Some others in the Scottish game would have their fans BELIEVE the Champions' League trophy is just around the corner.

I hate it when he comes out and sez stupid things....why cant he just say nothing at all, sometimes i have to question some of the things he sez, i admire his honesty but in a way i really hate it.

Sorry, but Mowbray would have been better saying nothing at all regarding this, in fact, there are times when he just waffles for the sake of it, and this is one of them. No manager should ever say publicly that his team cannot win the league. Of course Hibs are not equipped squad wise to win it, but for the manager to come out and say it in public is appalling IMO. What must his players think of their manager when he is saying that they have no chance of winning the very competition they are taking part in ? The players know within themselves that they are as good a team as any in the SPL, and then the manager procedes to undermine their chances publicly.

What Mowbray should have said was that it will be extremely difficult to win the championship with the resources we have compared to the Old Firm, but that he was determined he was going to try to win it nonetheless. That would at least have stated a firm intention to win the very competition we take part in every single year, whilst at the same time not making any promises, and sending a message to the fans and the media that he, Tony Mowbray, was determined not just to alow Hibs to make up the numbers in the SPL.

Funny, the much maligned Alex Miller used to say before every season that his intention was to win the league. He knew deep down that his team were not good enough, but he wanted to make clear his intention from the start of the campaign. I wish Mr Mowbray would do the same sometimes.

Well, a couple of days ago the good Dr Shrink asked me to post something contentious, so I did !!

Anyway, regarding the "lying" thing, no I don't want Tony Mowbray to lie. I just don't want him to say publicly that we cannot win the league. Leave that to dour, defensive, defeatist prats like Wille Miller in sheep-land. IMO football fans have to know that their manager at least has a belief in his teams ability to win a competition they are taking part in. What is the point in taking part in a competetion if you do not believe you have a chance of winning it?

I agree.

Last season we beat the Huns at Easter Road 2-1 in November. It was 2-1 going on 8-1.

At that point i don't think any Hibby thought we were on our way to winning the SPL (We'll leave such delusions to the Gunts..) however there was no doubt we were a 'Challenger' as such..

Then Mowbray came out and said something along the lines of what he's said in the press today and our form went downhill and indeed we've not won away from home in the SPL since..

He gave an honest answer to a direct question but he could have gave an answer like the reply he gave when denying Garry O'Connor was leaving only a few days before he did..

I agree with what you are saying....and yeah we dont have the money that the OF have but he shoudn't have said nothing at all.

How does that make the likes of Brown, Thommo, Fletch, Murphy, Shiels feel knowing that their boss does not have faith in them....i'd be pretty peeved off if i was a player also he is basically saying to other clubs come and buy our players with a statement like that.
