Stadium sponsorship

I was thinking about the current fad for sponsoring stadiums (Emirates stadium, Reebok etc)...What would we feel if a company offered to give us say 5million to write off our debt or invest in players to sponsor easter road for life? It sounds tempting and i know folk who like the idea, but i just feel like it would spoil the traditions of the club and shouldnt be considered at any price. (however i might consider it if it was a company i really liked, like Irn Bru say )

Anyone else?

Re: Stadium sponsorship

it doesn't really work with traditional stadiums as everyone would still call it Easter Road. If we had moved to a new stadium then maybe companies would have paid decent money. Prefer Easter Road though

The Cadbury's Easter Egg Road Stadium.

Incidently, FlyBe is the new sponsor for Southampton and they renamed the stadium from 'The Friends Provident St. Mary's Stadium' to...... 'St. Mary's Stadium'.

Good on them, even though their propellar planes are good method of laxative.

They could call it the Sunpat Peanut Butter Stadium or the Cadbury's Fruit and Nut Stadium for all the difference it would make to me. If it was in the financial interests of the Club I would happily accept it.

Same here,If we're getting money for a place we'd still call ER anyway then let them pay.

Re: Stadium sponsorship

Cause of the takeover at my 'other' club we were talking about the possibility of stadium sponsorship. To be honest I just disagree with it on principle, and no matter what argument is put forward that makes sense I just can't agree with it.

I agree - although something like 'The 7up East Road Stadium' would be a compromise.
