For his first game Martis was excellent.

With Murphy playing great and Whittaker having his best game in a while it's looking good in defence. Just as long as Broony fcuks off out of there

Very good debut from Martis. Remember as well it had been a while since his last competitive game.

They do look promising, and they are everything that Caldwell and Hogg weren't. No-nonsense hulks that deal with every high ball launched at them and their passes are simple straight and short.

In Mowbray we trust indeed. It was looking shaky there :YAYYY:

Looked good but lets remember it was motherwell we were playing!. They didnt have a striker that will hassle like Boyd would!

It WAS only motherwell, but that is the standard of all the teams outwith the ugly sisters and gunts IMO. They looked like they could work real well, and will get stronger and stronger. I also think they gave Whitty more confidence as well.

We've no had this type of presence at the back for years.

I thought they looked great - strong, nae nonsense huys that will clear first and ask questions later. Martis looks to be a tough player and hard in the challenge though - could give a way a few free-kicks or even penalties during the course of the season.

Thought the whole defence played well today. Murphy was his usual self, Jonesy was solid, Whittaker played his best game in a long time and Martis looked decent.

I feel a lot more confident about our defending now

I think Martis is very similar to Doumbe but alot stronger. Defence looked solid and that includes Whittaker for most part. Whittaker done very well again, occasionaly slipped back into old habbits of standing off the man or diving in but looked a lot more comfortable today.

Jones is solid in the air but im worried when he plays up against small forwards who play on the ground - he wanders a bit aswell.
Martis looked solid aswell.
Murphy was a bit sluggish in the last 2 games but was back to his usual competent self.
Whittaker has IMO been the best player along with stewart so far - looks a bit like the right back from moggas first season.

i have to disagree to a degree about martis. maybe it was nerves or just eagerness to defend, but i thought he commited himself too many times which gave 'well a free kick in a dangerous area or handed them back possesion with rash tackles. sure his workrate in the air was pretty solid, but he's going to have to learn to 'jockey' players instead of diving in all the time. here's hoping tony takes him aside and encourages him to read the play a bit better.

I would get over the pain of loosing to the OF as long as we could beat everyone else, thats what would give us our 3rd place finnish.:YAYYY:
