I can confirm today that Marvin Andrews was offered a deal by Hibs. The sources came from the horses mouth in Bar Itza last night. Myself and my other hibs pal asked him if the rumours were true, and after my pal reminding him who Ivan Sproule was as he sang the Sproule song drunk in his face pretty much, i asked him 'Did you actually get offered a deal by us?
Marvin replied 'Yeah but it was only a one year contract'.
He went on saying that he was pretty much looking for a bit more security, and was looking to stay in the SPL. He was a very nice guy, as when i asked to get his autograph, he actually went to ther bother of going to his car and got an offical photo, and wrote a message to my girlfriends niece. So overall if Hibs had offered a two year deal, looked as though the big man would be playing in green by now.

Well Mr Mowbray must not have thought so. But i suppose if he really wanted him he would have made another offer with 2 years on it .

Would have done a job for us. But I'm surprised we offered him an actual contract when his knee could cave in on him at any point. A pay per play would have been more sufficient. Although not much security for the player.

what i want to know is that, why did Mowbray lie about speaking to Marvin or his agent? i can remember reading that in a the Scotsman or something? Also now that Marvin has rejected us why did hibs not let us know,not that i'm bothered just seems strange that their hiding something or that ?

Think Mowbray only speaks out when something is concrete. Makes sense IMO.

You can get offered a one year deal on a pay as you play deal though, no ? Thats the whole idea, he still would have been on a one year deal, but he just would have got paid everytime he made an appearance.
P.S hibs.net have hi-jacked this story, i have copyrights you know, all you .net people out there lol.

however Petrie would have spoken on the QT to either Martin Bain the Rangers chief executive and the agents of Marvin and Bob Malcolm it seems as well and would have been given a polite GTF so there would have been no need for 'Tony' to be involved.

Pity really as Hibs should be applauded for trying to bring Marvin (but not Malcolm)

As has been pointed out in an earlier thread, TM could well have been telling the truth, all he had to do was say to the mouser I want to sign the guy so speak to MAs agent offer him 1 year at £xpw. RP and the clubs agents do all the talking TM hasn't spoken to the guy and isn't lying.

As a side note be very careful about calling ANYBODY a liar as it's either defamation or liable/slander(can never remember which is which) so make sure YOU have the full facts before saying that.....Unless of course you can prove TM has spoken to Andrews about a deal
