On This Date In History (Tree, Tree, Baby Jesus)
No got time to dae this justice today (bizzy as phuck, mag's close to deadline, as if any kant readin this site cares about 'Business in Wales'!). Anyway, here goes:
Ten years ago today: Sat 10 August 1996 Hibs 1-2 Kilmarnock Hibs were two down to two very poor goals from a Killie side kicking down the slope before Mickey Weir pulled one back before half-time with a well taken goal. Despite our best efforts in the second half there was no more scoring. Got pretty p!shed in the Firkin that night with Zondervan who was flyin out to Torremolinos at 2 in the mornin! Fifteen years ago today: Sat 10 August 1991 Hibs 4-1 St Mirren Two goals apiece from Pat McGinlay and Keith Wright gave us our first victory on the first day of the season for three years. I was at a 'friendly' between Cardiff and Swansea that day (1-0, Nathan Blake) if anyone's interested. Twenty-one years ago today: Sat 10 August 1985 Aberdeen 3-0 Hibs John Collins's debut for Hibs and he memorably skinned bawbag Miller in the second half. Sadly, late goals from debutant Jim Bett and Frank McDougall gave the Dons a more comfortable lookin win than it actually had been. They'd break our hearts a couple more times that season. |
