Well wouldn't surprise me they must of been so impressed by Broony when they played us....he was absolutly outstanding and the goals he scored where really good and if he left he would take the Premiership by storm but at the moment i think its to big a step up and dont believe as he said that he is going anywhere, well at least this season.

I thought it was only a matter of time before Mr Dowie showed interest in Brown after the way he played that night!

wake up to reallity son,if charlton wanted him bad enough and put in an offer of say £500,000-£1mil he would be off and I for one would hold him no grudges,we are at this moment in time an orginisation who is intent on making a pretty balance sheet as opposed to a good football team and anything we build will be done as cheaply as possible,thats the reason there will be no more signings this window.

ahhh! the thing is not what we hope for but what the board hopes for,we have to realise the days of clubs down south paying big bucks for spl players are finnito,they dont rate us enough and you can be assured if an offer of that amount came in the board would take it.We could always replace him with a promising morrocan

Surely our bench mark should be what we got for GarryO rather than just assuming we'll sell on the cheap.

Yes the board are tight but they are also astute enough (I hope) to realise that anything under £1.5m would not only be a PR disaster as the fans would be raging but also bad business as Scott's value can only increase imo.

Charlton (or indeed any English side) will know of him only as an unproved, recently back from injury, once capped prospect.
We know his worth, but I doubt that a bid of more than £500k to £1m will be forthcoming, if indeed any is.

Much as Rodders wants to bring in cash to balance the books he is not stupid.
He will not sell off the family silver for (relatively) nothing.
The days of big bucks bids from Ingerlund are probably over now, but it doesn’t mean we should start ‘gifting’ our players to other clubs.

Iain Dowie has confirmed his intention to continuing bolstering the Charlton squad and the Addicks boss has been linked with a move for Hibs ace Scott Brown.

Dowie snapped up Djimi Traore and Amdy Faye on Tuesday evening and promised Charlton fans more would follow - and Brown is on the shopping-list.

If Brown was to go on fairly, Hibernian should be able to expect £5,000,000. Funnily, this is about what the soapies are getting for Petrov.

IMO Broonaldo is better as a midfielder that GOC was as a forward. With this in mind £3,500,000 is a fair price to the HIBERNIANS. Would rather he stayed tho'

1, The 'Daily Mail reporting..' Well that will be a first. Tabloid speculation and i have more faith in The Daily Record & Sun than that English Newspaper..

2, 'Would be difficult to stand in the way' Why? He's under contract at us. A move at this moment in time to the Premiership is not good for the player and not good for us. He's learning his trade and he's by all accounts loving doing so under Tony. Mowbray rates him very highly and unless we are to be suitably compensated we absolutely IMO Stand In The Way!!

Charlton have just paid out I believe 4 million for 2 players. If they are interested in Scott Brown they are likely to come in with an offer way below our (or the Boards) expectations. Could of course just be some poor journalism from the mail
