Question Andrew Mcneil

Why don't we have this guy playing in the first team squad next season, hes playing brilliant for Scotland at the moment. Zibi is still making mistakes, one against charlton last nite and simon brown should i say anymore..

big difference playing for u19s at international level and SPL week in week out,he is not ready yet and the mistakes he made which directly contributed to at least one of the turkish goals and one if not two in the spain game confirm that.

That great lanky streak o'pish at the piggery has made over 130 appearance for the scumbos making his debut in 2002 and is now only 22 so as far as I am concerned the age/experience argument holds little water, he has to start sometime. Brown and Malkowski make glaring mistakes in most games they play and have cost us plenty despite their age and supposed experience.
IMO McNeil is better than both of our current keepers which to be honest wouldn't be that difficult.

Broch-Hibs is on the way to a first team debut
Re: Andrew Mcneil

I'm sure McNeil will get a few games in the first team this year (cis cup depending on the draw we get) with a view to earning a longer contract if he performs well. Maybe next season we will see him stake a claim for the no.1 spot.

Re: Andrew Mcneil

What really worries me is if Simon Brown gets injured/sent off against the Dons , Zibi being suspended and with the Scotland under-19's possibly playing this weekend (if they win today) then will we have a reserve keeper?

Re: Andrew Mcneil

I watched the Scotland u19 semi today and McNeil was impressive - a great shot-stopper and wasn't afraid of coming off his line. His height could be a problem though - not the tallest of lads and although he seemed confident in commanding his area he was beaten by high crosses a few times which won't be very good for us.

Like to see him be given a chance though.

Re: Andrew Mcneil

Ali Brown was at loan with Raith last season but is now back at Hibs having hopefully gained much needed experience last season where I believe he played in most games. Perhaps he's worth giving a chance to this season? If he's worse than Zibi and Simon at this stage of his career you must question if it's worth keeping hold of him.

Ali Brown isn't the answer!, imo having seen him on several occasions I wouldn't have him at the Club!

His decision making is poor (like Zibi) and his shot stopping/reaction saves are not on a par with the other 2!

Meanwhile, Mowbray today put 17-year-old Hungarian goalkeeper David Grof on stand-by for a place on the bench.

Simon Brown, having re-established himself as Hibs No 1, will start the match but with Zibi Malkowski suspended following his red card on the final day of last season, Ally Brown injured and Andy McNeil on international duty having helped Scotland to the final of the European Under-19 Championship in Poland, his choice of substitute goalkeeper is severely restricted.

The Hibs boss said: "It will be either David or Matthew Curtis on the bench, we'll wait and see."

Brown still at Hibs.
