So does that mean you must field your strongest possible side?

These are our pre season games though so we still have to see if players have improved

I think it would only be of any significance if Hibs had lost the game.

really not sure - you must be allowed to rest players, but rest too many and you'll get fined?

Re: did hibs field a weakened side in latvia?

Given that we won the game anyway, there wont be any repercussions, as winning 3-0 doesnt make any difference to the tie overall.

Unlike what Im assuming is this case, that the Greek team mebbe won comfortably the first leg, rested some players and then ended up getting beat.

Exactly, so if they put out a weakend team then they could be in line for it.

I agree, think it would be a different story if we had lost, but we still pumped them.

Re: did hibs field a weakened side in latvia?

There seems to be a bit more to it than just not playing their strongest side, if you read the third paragraph.

Quote:
the Greek club... was not only in breach of fundamental Uefa rules but also ran the risk of creating favourable conditions for illegal betting practices.
It also mentions that they fielded this weaker side, contradicting what they had been saying in the media. Hibs were quite up front about resting Scott Brown, for example.

Did hibs field a weakened side in latvia?

No Way.

Every player that started the game had first team experience and quite a bit of it too even fringe players like Jinky, Konte, and Geordie McDonald, with the exception of Rob Jones who we had only just signed.

I would go as far to say it was a very strong Hibs team, given the oppositions performance of a week ago.
