Why today - and who?

Why was the Riordan news leaked today and by who?

That in itself concerns me...

Who did this news come from? Celtic or Riordan's people? Or Hibs?

Re: Why today - and who?

I think Celtic responded to the Daily Record article. They didnae want "their exclusive" being broken by anyone else.

So, who broke the story to the record? DR writes for the record....

I'm not casting aspersions...just pointing out facts.

Re: Why today - and who?

The whole Easter Road set up stinks.

This was a week when the Easter Road PR machine should have been looking to spin as much good news as they possibly could, and just what have we had from Easter Road this week?

We are run by non football people and the quicker it changes the better.

Re: Why today - and who?

Riordan's camp or Hibs on a damage limitation exercise I'd suggest. Hardly going to be an 8 page spread about it in the paper the day after the Scottish Cup Final.

Come on SK, what's your best hunch

Is it an Alastair Campbell job by Hibs - hide it in amongst "Black Saturday" and get it out of the way in a snarl-fest of grumbledom and woe, before moving on in the weeks to come with new faces and contract renewals? I'm not sure.

Can't see at all why Celtic would do it today.

As for the agent/player? Well, I guess it could be a parting slap in the face for Hibs as a result of stand-off negotiating shennanigans?

Or an attempt to hide it in a snarl-fest of grumbledom and woe - the fans having enough to think about today?

It is not untypical of the whole Riordan saga. Very different in some ways to "Mr Open" Celtwell or even Ihun Murray - the propaganda on both sides with regards to Riordan has been full on, unsavoury and disappointing.

I suspect all parties are tainted. Riordan is no saint in this, the club's maneouvres also needing scrutiny. The truth is out there but it will no doubt lie somewhere in the no-man's land neither Petrie or Riordan found themselves able (or willing) to cross.

Re: Why today - and who?

The Yams win the cup in 98 and we had to go and add to the sense of occasion by getting ourselves relegated. Today they do it again and we go and lose our top striker.

My most likely scenario and one that was a huge kick in the teeth. Radio reports of the Yams in Glasgow for a Scottish Cup final along with a report of Riordan leaving Hibs.

We are a club with non football people in heart, spirit and mind.

I refuse to believe that Sam Morrow can be earning more than Derek Riordan.

Surely not!

What next? Konte earning more than Derek Riordan?

Derek refused to sign a deal......... he is on the terms agreed prior to 'breakthrough'. Of course they are lesser terms.

To suggest that Sam Morrow/Konte et al were offered and acceopted better terms than those offered to Derek is ludicrous.

The oft-trotted out argument that £700 was a shocking wage just doesn't hold water. It was a decent offer at the time. He signed.
Hibs offered improved terms.
Derek decided to remain on the low wage for a short time before making loads of dosh by joining a rival club.

I don't quite know who it was in the Labour party when they said now would be a good time to out the story, she was sacked or resigned, today i think suited Hibs for all the rotten stories to be outed.

Hibernian football club

Building for the future
On May 22rd 2006, Hibs announced they had secured 36 acres of land to build a training complex. [5] The facilities are to be built on a farm in East Mains, a 20 minute drive from Easter Road. The complex will be called the 'East Mains Training Centre'. The site will include:

Up to 10 full size grass pitches
Specialist training areas (eg goalkeeping)
Gym
Changing facilities
A treatment area
An indoor short-sided synthetic pitch
Players lounge
Coaches’ rooms
The project is said to cost the club £3m. Hibs will be one of a few clubs in Scotland to have their own facilities, the others being Rangers, Celtic, Hearts and Ross County. Tony Mowbray has repeatedly complained about the poor quality of facilities the club has at their disposal, as they are currently using public areas in Edinburgh and Musselburgh. The centre is said to be completed by pre-season of the 2007-2008 season, and is expected to receive planning permission soon.

And got it.......:YAYYY:
