Should Riordan?

Do the same as GoC and hand his signning on fee back to the Hibs development as a thank you for what they have done for his career?

Re: Should Riordan?

I would like to see him do it, but I can't see it happening. Not many players do that sort of thing. It was a great gesture from big Gaz, but not one that you should be expecting from everyone

I doesn't pain me to agree with you. He owes Hibs nothing as far as I'm concerned.

If you believe that the wages on offer were pish.

I tend to believe that he always intended on heading along to Glasgow.

Derek's wages for a twenty goal a season player were pish. Sam Morrow is paid more for gods sake. How would you feel if you were grossly underpaid the market rate for your job? If you were offered a new contract would you not want some recompense for being underpaid?

His wages were pish because he refused to sign a new contract.

The board cant pay more than they can afford. I wish people would understand this.

He refused to sign a new contract because it didn't compensate him for his previous underpayment. I am fully aware we cannot pay more than we can afford, however we cannot continue to devlope talent for the old firm for free. If the board had used part of Garry O's fee to secure a contract for Deek then Smeltic would have to paid something to us rather than get freebie.

I don't know, and you don't know. We're just fans and are not privey to what goes on behind the scene, I really hope every effort was made to get Deeks to sign on, but I just feel more could have been done. Anyway as he's as good as away now it's probably best if we move on, get behind hibs and look towards the future.
