Close Season action!

There is a lot of talk about the possibility of TM moving on to pastures new over the Summer!, I am firmly in the camp of those who believe that although it would be a huge loss to the Club, life would go on!

My concerns are quite immediate!

TM obviously has plans in place for strengthening( )/filling the squad! If he were to leave and the board hops once again onto the managerial merry-go-round! where does that leave our team!

Obviously team affairs have to take a back seat until a Manager is in place! (otherwise we're into a HMFC chairman/manager scenario!). If the new man was not on the same wavelength as Mowbray and has a different ethos there could be a need for a sea change in player type!

I think that this is a really bad time to lose a Manager, in recent seasons we've had a great start and tailed of! I can't bear to think about the last time we started badly and continued the trend!

Re: Close Season action!

And the speculation will go on and on and on and………………

I’m hoping that Tony will not go down the Judas route of clandestine meetings with a prospective new employer and letting hie present employers down with numerous ‘mistakes’ and bad decisions prior to scuttling off to join his new chums. Tony seems to be a principled guy. (Although the media hacks are always banging on about how ‘hones’ and ‘principled’ Judas is, which is clearly hot our experience of the man.)

Until Tony is sacked, or informs the Board of his intention to go, there is nothing that can be done to safeguard the club. The Manager is in a position of great trust; The Board and fans are ultimately allowing the immediate future of the club to be directed by one man.
It is only when there is no trust between Board and Manager that Vlad type situations develop, with owners/chairmen seeking to take every decision.
There is never a good time to lose a good manager, and never a bad time to lose a bad one.

As you say….. if Tony goes, life goes on.
A bigger worry for me would be if he came back and raided the club for it’s best players if he was in a position to do so.

My gut feeling is that we will have another 2 years or so of Tony.

But that might just be wind.

colintonhibby is on the way to a first team debut
Re: Close Season action!

If as i suspect he does want the Ipswich job then I am sure he is an honest enough guy to inform RP of his intentions.

In that case he cannot be allowed to sign any new players until the position is resolved. This could very much be to the detriment of our club if the position is to linger on over the summer.

Hopefully for all concerned things will move quickly at Ipswich and if Tony stays we move on with his plans quickly. If not the new man(or woman cannot be sexist) must be allowed to choose the players we need to sign to strengthen our squad over the summer.

Re: Close Season action!

This on Forth radio......Hibs chairman Rod Petrie is today refusing to comment on reports linking Tony Mowbray with a move to Ipswich Town. The East Anglian side is managerless following yesterday's departure of Joe Royle - Mowbray spent nine years at Portman Road as both a player and coach, and was in temporary charge for four games in October 2002.
